Fountain, Bridgend: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With call-out DPF cleaning, we come to the vehicle. A fitter arrives at your address in Fountain, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is fixed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we generally come across people, and precisely what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, necessarily. First thing to get straight. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
The motoring you do in the meantime tells. That is the second thing.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving as normal — a long constant run can still clear it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you ring anything.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under acceleration, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and call.
The motor has been warning you already
Symptoms have usually been growing for some time before the light ever shows. Late news, in other words:
- power tailing off, especially going uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they always did
- consumption that is worse than it was
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not proof alone. It is a fair assumption the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Fountain
For a DPF, the worst driving is the type you get in a rural hamlet such as Fountain. The school run to the local primary school, B4281 at a crawl at the morning rush, ten minutes to Lidl, the dash to Tondu — not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the unburnt soot builds up.
Where you sit does not help either. The M4 is under a mile from Fountain and Swansea is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, whole weeks pass without the sustained run that could empty the filter alone.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it
What limp mode amounts to is the motor protecting itself. Output is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer run — which is the whole problem, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.
The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. Past that point — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires a clean.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle round Fountain
Most people do not see coming this part: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fitted to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a while.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That requires a check first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware.
A solution then is fed in through the access point on that car, spreading inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Severely blocked filters sometimes require a second pass.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Fountain if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the real-time data verified after.
A second scan verifies the change, resets the warning light and lists anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures on record.
Where cleaning is not the solution
A clean answers one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature sensor
- EGR valves that hang open
- the AdBlue system failing
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting at all
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Which is why the diagnostic happens first. You are let know before all work begins, not after you have settled up, should it turns out to be one of those.
A couple more worth noting. Having the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is cleared in place and put back into use.
The figure of DPF cleaning across Fountain
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
No flat rate would be honest, so the figure is agreed over the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The place you are tells as much as what you run: Fountain itself, Court Colman close by, or otherwise out across the CF postcode area.
If the scan rules a clean out, there is no charge to pay for it. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, carried out the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Fountain — the job carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Your fitter, Zac, came at the agreed time and did the work very efficiently outside our house. He explained everything fully and went with me to test drive the car to make sure everything was rectified. Very happy with everything. 10/10.
Brilliant! Spoke to someone on the phone and they had availability next day to get me booked in! The issue was solved in a timely manner and I got sent a report detailing everything. Great company! Would defo recommend!
Dave was really helpful, cleaned my DPF and fixed the fault codes. He also identified another issue with my van. Would highly recommend using this company.
What we clean, and how far we reach around Fountain
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same on-site service stands, and the filter never leaves it.
Fountain is rarely a special trip: technicians are working B4281 most weeks, and the same run takes in Court Colman, Ffordd-y-Gyfraith and the places out past Aberkenfig. Further out across Bridgend is still worth a call — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that settles between today and tomorrow.

What Fountain drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not begun. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Lidl and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- The cost in Fountain — what is it?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the scan and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
- Is it needed for me to be present?
- You need not stand with it — the car just needs somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. Preferring to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Getting to Fountain — how soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is free across the CF area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it stands. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything a job we do whichever way.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Fountain.
