Mobile DPF Cleaning around Ford, Tyne and Wear
On-site DPF cleaning comes to the car. An engineer turns up at your door across Ford, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the number is agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is showing and the car is low on power — that is how we normally come across people, and precisely what this page deals with.
What to do when the DPF light shows
The filter is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. That light can follow several faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with a clean.
How the car is driven in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Motor still driving fine on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and often clears the filter without help.
- That window has gone once the motor has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it seen to.
Signs the motor has been showing you
Symptoms have generally been mounting for a while before the light so much as shows. Last news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- fuel use going worse
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration
By itself, none of that is evidence. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.
Blocked diesel particulate filters near Ford, and the reason
The driving that comes with a residential suburb like Ford is the least kind kind for a DPF. Not one bit of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Highfield Academy, Fordham Road barely moving at half past eight, ten minutes to Heron Foods, the run to St Peters. Instead of clearing, the soot builds up.
Neither is a long way from Ford: under 5 miles to the A194(M), under 3 miles to Sunderland. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter simply never gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
What limp mode amounts to is the car looking after itself. The entire difficulty is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
So the common advice to get it up the motorway is sound advice, up until it is not. The filter requires cleaning rather than more driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Ford
Most people do not anticipate this bit: the filter stays put. The job happens with the DPF still bolted to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a while.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it logged before a thing is started.
Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Ford, with you present, or it is done where the motor stands and the real-time data is checked after.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still outstanding logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
Where cleaning is not the fix
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- EGR valves that stick open
- the AdBlue system failing
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Which is why the diagnostic comes first. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before any work begins, not after settling up a penny.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no solution. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
The cost of DPF cleaning across Ford
A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself opens from £299.
Once we are told what you own, and broadly what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. The car changes it, and so does the location — Ford, High Barnes, or anywhere otherwise out in the SR postcode area.
If the diagnostic rules treatment out, there is not a penny to pay for it. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still stands.
If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Ford — the job includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Had a gentlemen called Attila came to my address n done a full dpf clean n reset very friendly and professional i would definitely recommend 5 star thank you.
Daz turned up and did a good job on the fix even though he wasn't feeling too well! Would highly recommend him and DPF Fixer service again!
Nic was an absolute legend, talkative, kind & walked through the whole process. You can see the process happen and then feel the difference after. Thank you Nic!
Where we get to round Ford, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Engineers are along Fordham Road nearly every week, so Ford is rarely a special trip, and the same run takes in High Barnes, Millfield and the spots out past West Boldon. Ring anyway from farther out around Tyne and Wear. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the slot you are offered hangs on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Questions Ford drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- It might, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not arrived. That requires motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to Heron Foods.
- Does the visit take long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
- What does it cost around Ford?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
- Is it necessary for me to be there?
- The vehicle wants a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive instead.
- Travelling to Ford — how soon?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the SR area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- It is treated where it stands, on the on-site service. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything a job we do either way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Ford.
