What the motor has been warning you
Symptoms have generally been building for weeks before the light even arrives. Late news, in other words:
- pulling uphill, the power tails off
- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
- fuel use that is worse than it used to be
- the stop/start silently bowing out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box
Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. With the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Folkestone
For a DPF, the least kind use is the sort you get in a coastal town such as Folkestone.
