Field Common, Surrey: Mobile DPF Cleaning
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. The technician arrives at your place in Field Common and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled over the phone before anyone travels.
Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the motor down on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What now?
It might not be the unit at all. That is the main thing. That light can arise from a number of faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with cleaning.
It counts what you do with the motor between now and the visit.
- A long steady run may even now be enough, provided the light is amber and the car drives normally. Costs zero, so attempt that before calling.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the stage to stop planning long drives and book it in.
The motor has been telling you already
Symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks before the light so much as appears. Late news, in other words:
- falling off on power, particularly uphill
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- worse fuel use
- the stop/start silently giving up
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
By itself, none of that is proof. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Field Common
The driving that comes with a small village like Field Common is the worst sort for a DPF. The school run to Walton Oak Primary School, Byron Close at a standstill at half eight, five minutes to Lidl, the run to Hersham — nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. What should burn off remains.
Unless you have a standing cause to drive out to the M3, under 3 miles from Field Common, or over to Westminster under 15 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a long unbroken stint. Geography is unhelpful.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration on offer.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, up until it is not. The filter needs treatment rather than more driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done across Field Common
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most owners do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF still fitted to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can sit for a few hours.
A check happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so other faults are cleared before any of it is touched.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access port, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration never can. Badly clogged filters sometimes need a second pass.
A regeneration comes next, driving off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Field Common; if not, in place where the motor waits, with the real-time data checked after.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both read-outs are sent over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:
- sensors, pressure, showing a blockage that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- AdBlue system problems
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing whatsoever
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. When it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work starts rather than after you have handed over a penny.
Two things more worth knowing. Getting the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
The cost for DPF cleaning in Field Common
A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We fix it over phone, once the motor and its expected needs are established. What you drive and where you are both move it: Field Common itself, across at Lower Green, or farther out in the KT postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the scan says will not do it. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the check was carried out and the advice was passed on.
The job includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Field Common if the light comes back inside that window.
Thank you Nic, you have done a great job for me today. DPF cleaned and all warning lights cleared, drives like new.
Excellent service came to my home address was polite and explained the process then got on with the job.
Highly recommend DPF fixer they came out evaluated and confirmed we didn't need a clean and identified the real issue. Very professional and did not carry out any unnecessary work brilliant service.
The vehicles we clean and the area we reach round Field Common
The filter is done in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Our engineers are along Byron Close nearly every week, so Field Common is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Lower Green, Hurst Park and the villages out past Esher. Even further out around Surrey is still worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between today and tomorrow.

Questions Field Common drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- If you spot it in time, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes flat to Lidl and back.
- Broadly how long does it run?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is heavily loaded.
- What does it run to across Field Common?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for the call-out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. Settling it is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both change the number.
- Have I need to be there?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car only requires a spot to sit for a couple of hours. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a supervised drive.
- Can someone get to Field Common soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the KT area has free.
- Is the filter taken off the motor?
- Not on the mobile service — it is done where it stands. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Field Common.
