Mobile DPF Cleaning in Feltwell and Norfolk
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. The fitter pulls up at your address across Feltwell and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
You'll know a price by phone before anyone leaves, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the car is down on power — that is how we normally meet people, and what this page covers.
DPF light on? What to do
It could not be the filter whatsoever. That is the first thing. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — several faults register as the same warning.
It tells what you manage with the car between now and the visit.
- Vehicle still driving fine on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs zero and frequently shifts the filter without assistance.
- That window has gone once the car has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not do it now.
- Get it looked at rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for a while before it shows:
- power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
- you find the revs never reach where they once went
- worse fuel use
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
Alone, none of that is evidence. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.
What blocks diesel particulate filters near Feltwell
For a DPF, the poorest driving is the type you find across a rural village such as Feltwell. Look at an ordinary week: Edmund de Moundeford VC Primary School, Feltwell and home again, Saint Mary's Street at a crawl before the hour, a quick trip to Co-op Food, a dash to Lakenheath. Not much there runs long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. The soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Save when you have a routine need to head out to the M11, under 50 miles from Feltwell, or across to Ely under 15 miles away, weeks slip past without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
What limp mode comes down to is the car protecting itself. The real problem is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are beyond that line, and the filter needs treatment rather than more driving.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands in Feltwell
Nothing is taken from the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF remains bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can sit for two hours or so.
First a check. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated hardware — all of it logged before any of it is cleaned.
Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access point, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Badly clogged filters sometimes require a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Feltwell; if not, statically where the car waits, with the live data checked after.
A second check proves the change, puts out the warning light and lists anything still open. Both reports are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- the wrong figure from a pressure or temperature sensor
- a failed EGR valve
- an AdBlue system fault
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
That is what the first scan is for. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before the work gets going, not after handing over anything.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Leaving the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your original filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.
The price of DPF cleaning in Feltwell
Any visit carries a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, doing the diagnostic and giving the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
Naming a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it over phone, once the car and its expected needs are clear. The place you are matters as much as what you run: Feltwell itself, Hockwold cum Wilton next door, or further out within the IP postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not do it, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer comes back to Feltwell.
its been 3 months now and all seems good, the issue has not come back since it was cleaned out, the engineer was really good and explained everything well.
Daz was absolutely amazing. He was lovely and talked me through everything. He has educated me a bit more about my vehicle. Couldn't be more happier.
Well informed and efficient service, everything explained well and advised on what to do next as I had ongoing issues, now everything is working as it should, definitely recommend.
What we clean, and how far we travel round Feltwell
Cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery, farm vehicles — the one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than moved anywhere.
Our engineers are along Saint Mary's Street nearly every week, so Feltwell is rarely a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Hockwold cum Wilton, Weeting and the places out past Methwold Hythe. Call anyway from even further out across Norfolk. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the date you get comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.

Things Feltwell drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
- Does the visit take long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Around Feltwell, what does it come to?
- Treatment opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- No. The motor wants space to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Come along if you prefer, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- Travelling to Feltwell — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is available across the IP area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- Treated where it is, on this service, so no. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Feltwell.
