Mobile DPF Cleaning in Farway Marsh and Devon
Cleaning the DPF is done at the car, not at a body shop. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer travels to your address in Farway Marsh, treats the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is settled over the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
Most owners find us with the light on already, and the motor low on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
It might not be the filter at all. That is the opening thing. A diagnostic happens before all treatment, because that same panel light has plenty of likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Car yet driving normally on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently sorts the filter without help.
- That window has gone once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
The vehicle has been warning you already
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for weeks. It is late news:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel economy getting worse
- stop/start silently packing in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
That is not proof by itself. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Farway Marsh
The driving that goes with a small village like Farway Marsh is the poorest type for a DPF. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St Andrew's CofE Primary Academy, St Andrew's Field standing at half past eight, ten minutes to Sainsbury's, the hop to Axminster. The soot load banks up rather than clearing.
Unless you have a standing cause to head out to the M5, under 15 miles from Farway Marsh, or over to Exeter under 50 miles away, weeks pass without a sustained drive. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the motor protecting itself. A long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power held down, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
The standard advice — run it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter wants treatment rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the motor across Farway Marsh
Most owners do not expect this part: the filter stays on. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it logged before anything is cleaned.
Then comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the vehicle's own access port, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration never can. Badly blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Farway Marsh; if not, statically where the vehicle sits, with the live data checked once done.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still logged. Both read-outs are sent over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
Where cleaning is not the solution
Treatment fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- AdBlue system faults
- a regeneration that simply never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
That is what the first scan is for. You are warned before all work starts, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.
What DPF cleaning costs across Farway Marsh
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
Once we are told what you run, and broadly what the filter will take, the number gets fixed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the address — Farway Marsh, Holy City, or somewhere otherwise out in the EX postcode area.
Cleaning that will not work is not a clean you pay for, and the check is what says so. You still pay that charge: someone travelled, did the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Farway Marsh if the light comes back inside the time.
Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.
Dave was great and really knowledgeable, was polite enough to call me letting me know his arrival time. He cleaned my dpf in about an hour and even gave me some advice on further maintenance on my BMW. Thanks Dave.
Had a clean. Didn't fix problem. Came back out. Still didn't fix the problem. Wast of time and £400.
Where we travel round Farway Marsh, and what we clean
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the same on-site service applies, and the filter never quits it.
Farway Marsh is seldom a special trip: engineers are working St Andrew's Field week in week out, and the same run takes in Holy City, Kitbridge and the places out past Chardstock. Farther out across Devon is still worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that picks between this day and the next.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Farway Marsh
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you spot it in time, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a brief trip to Sainsbury's.
- Does the visit take long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
- Cost in Farway Marsh — what is it?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; treatment itself opens from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
- Is it essential for me to be present?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle simply wants somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
- Can someone come to Farway Marsh soon?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the EX area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. Nor does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- An engineer travels back out to Farway Marsh — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
