Before the light, what the motor was warning you
Symptoms have normally been building for some time before the light ever appears. Belated news, in other words:
- power dropping away, above all climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- the fuel consumption is worse
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is conclusive on its own. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round Elmdale
