Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Egloskerry, Cornwall

Cleaning the DPF is done at the motor, not at a garage. The fitter pulls up at your place in Egloskerry and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the car, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you started with.

The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the price is fixed over the phone before anyone leaves.

Most people find us with the light already on, and the motor short of power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.

What to try when the DPF light comes on

The DPF is not automatically what is wrong, and that comes first. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same dash, which is why a visit begins with a scan rather than with cleaning.

The use you do in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.

  • Car still driving fine on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly shifts the filter without assistance.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
  • Get it seen to rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

Signs the motor has been showing you

By the time the light arrives, things have generally been deteriorating for some time. It is belated news:

  • power falling off, particularly going uphill
  • you notice the revs never reach where they used to go
  • the fuel economy is poorer
  • stop/start quietly packing in
  • a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under hard acceleration

None of that is proof alone. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.

Why diesel particulate filters clog near Egloskerry

Egloskerry is a village, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. The school run to Egloskerry Primary School, Well Meadow at a crawl at half past eight, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the run to the nearest station — not one bit of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot builds up.

The M5 sits under 50 miles from Egloskerry, Plymouth under 25 miles away, and unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks pass without the sustained run that empties a DPF. Geography does not help.

The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer complete

The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. With output limited and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires will not run at all. That matters, because starting one is precisely what a motorway run does.

Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds as far as a point. Once the car is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter requires a clean rather than driving.

DPF cleaning at the car across Egloskerry

Most people do not see coming this detail: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the vehicle — on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can wait for a few hours.

The ECU is taken first, reporting soot load by proportion and by actual weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.

After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the car's own access point, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.

A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Egloskerry if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the real-time data verified afterwards.

Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what verifies the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still outstanding.

The problems a DPF clean cannot answer

Treatment answers one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor showing a block that is not there
  • the EGR valve held open
  • AdBlue system faults
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
  • a turbo putting oil through the filter

Finding that out is the first check's whole job. Where it proves to be one of those, you are let know before any work begins rather than after you have handed over for it.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is exchanged — your original filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth noting.

Prices for DPF cleaning around Egloskerry

Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

No single flat rate would be honest, so the number is agreed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. The motor moves it, and so does the postcode — Egloskerry, Badharlick, or somewhere further out in the PL postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not help, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the check and the advice have happened.

The clean comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Egloskerry if the light returns inside that period.

Fantastic service from Andras and his trainee assistant (Andy?) sorry the name has slipped my brain. Andras was very knowledgeable and he got my van running within good time. I'm very happy with the service I was given! Thank you.

James C.

Great experience with DPF. We got an appointment next day and the customer service was great all the way through. Whilst I hope I don't have to use them again, I would recommend to anyone!

Ashley T.

From start to finish the company was great. Would definitely recommend if you are having DPF problems as they will get it sorted in a very quick manner.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Egloskerry

The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.

The same round that has engineers on Well Meadow most weeks picks up Egloskerry, Badharlick, Trebeath and the places beyond North Petherwin. Phone anyway from further out across Cornwall. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the slot you get comes down to the schedule rather than how far away you are.

What Egloskerry drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough by itself?
Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
Does the visit run long?
Expect typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which adds to it.
Cost in Egloskerry — what is it?
It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
Do I have to be there?
No. The vehicle requires somewhere to sit for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration becomes a supervised drive.
When can someone travel to Egloskerry?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is free across the PL area.
The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
Done where it is, on this service, so no. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
What if the light comes back?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Egloskerry.
