Mobile DPF Cleaning across Eggs Tump, Gloucestershire

Sorting the DPF takes place at the vehicle, not at a workshop. No workshop, no filter coming off. A fitter travels to your address across Eggs Tump, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.

You'll be given a number by phone before anyone leaves, the clean starting from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and roughly what this page covers.

Your DPF light is lit — what next?

It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the opening thing. That light can follow several faults, not only one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with cleaning.

How the motor is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • Amber light, motor yet driving fine — a long even run can yet shift it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
  • Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you

Symptoms have generally been growing for some time before the light even shows. Last news, in other words:

  • less power, above all pulling uphill
  • the revs no longer rise the way they once did
  • fuel consumption going worse
  • the stop/start without a word packing in
  • smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car

That is not conclusive by itself. Alongside the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is full.

The reason diesel particulate filters choke near Eggs Tump

The day-to-day driving that goes with a rural hamlet like Eggs Tump is the poorest sort for a DPF. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and sees neither: not on the school run to Bromesberrow St Mary's Church of England Primary School, not on Cook's Lane at the morning rush, not on ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the hop to Ledbury. The soot that should burn away banks up instead.

Neither is distant from Eggs Tump: under a mile to the M50, under 15 miles to Gloucester. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the drive that would clear a filter never gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops

The vehicle is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. With power capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter needs can never complete at all. That matters, because triggering one is precisely what a sustained run does.

Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands up to a limit. The far side of that line — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.

Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Eggs Tump

Nothing comes off the car. That throws people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for two hours or so.

The ECU is interrogated first, giving soot load by percentage and by weight, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still in play.

Next comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the motor's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Eggs Tump; if not, in place where the motor stands, with the live data checked once done.

Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what confirms the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still showing.

Where cleaning is not the answer

Treatment fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor showing a block that is not there
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • AdBlue system failures
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing whatsoever
  • oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo

Which is why the scan goes first. Turning out to be one of them means learning it before any work begins, not after paying a penny.

A couple more worth noting. Leaving the filter gutted is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your existing filter is cleared in place and returned into use.

DPF cleaning costs around Eggs Tump

Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.

The figure is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight. Where you are counts as much as what you own: Eggs Tump itself, Cobbs Cross nearby, or otherwise out in the HR postcode area.

If the diagnostic counts treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. What nonetheless applies is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was passed on.

A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Eggs Tump if the light comes back inside the window.

Really pleased with service. They communicated exceptionally well & Dave really pulled out all the stops to keep me on the road Explaining everything he did Will definitely recommend to anyone who is in the same situation. Thank you.

Gmb T.

Really helpful, told me why the filter had blocked in the first place and managed to clean it out fully.

Engineer did a analysis check, found system was clean. He found the that the sensors needed resetting so no extra charge. Happy to recommend this service.

What we clean, and how far we travel near Eggs Tump

Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural machinery — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

Week in week out there is usually someone on Cook's Lane, so Eggs Tump rarely means a special trip, and Cobbs Cross, Playley Green and the villages past Pendock follow. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so further out through Gloucestershire is even so worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Things Eggs Tump drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I just take it for a long drive?
It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not set in. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back.
Broadly how long does it run?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly clogged filter can require cleaning twice, which takes longer.
Around Eggs Tump, what does it run to?
It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the price.
Do I have to be present?
No. The vehicle needs a spot to stand for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
When can someone travel to Eggs Tump?
You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the HR area.
Does the filter come away from the car?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
And if the light returns?
An engineer heads back out to Eggs Tump — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
