Mobile DPF Cleaning across Eastleigh, Devon
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. No workshop, no filter coming off. An engineer comes to your place across Eastleigh, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
You'll be given a number by phone before anyone goes, the clean starting from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the motor is low on power — that is how we generally come across people, and what this page covers.
Your DPF light is showing — what next?
Not the filter, necessarily. First thing to get straight. That light can follow plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a check and not with treatment.
It tells what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Worth a shot before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one constant run, no charge.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
What the motor has been warning you
By the time the light appears, things have generally been slipping for a while. It is belated news:
- less power, above all pulling uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel use going worse
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle
None of that is proof on its own. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is blocked.
What clogs diesel particulate filters round Eastleigh
The day-to-day driving that belongs to a rural hamlet like Eastleigh is the poorest kind for a DPF. Run through an ordinary week: East-the-Water Community Primary School and home, Old Barnstaple Road at a halt before the hour, a short hop to Tesco, a hop to Barnstaple. Nothing there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to finish a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.
Neither is far from Eastleigh: under 50 miles to the M5, under 50 miles to Exeter. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would scour a filter never happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode amounts to. The entire problem is that a proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are past that line, and the filter wants cleaning rather than driving.
The vehicle stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round Eastleigh
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most drivers do not expect: the job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can stand for a while.
The ECU is read first, reporting soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the car's own access point, spreading inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration cannot. Where the filter is heavily blocked, allow for a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Eastleigh if you are along, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the running data verified afterwards.
Then a second diagnostic, verifying the change, clearing the warning light and listing anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a block that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- a regeneration that never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
That is what the first check is for. You are warned before any work starts, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is exchanged — your original filter is cleared in place and returned into use. Two more worth noting.
DPF cleaning costs across Eastleigh
Every visit carries a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and offering the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Not one flat rate would be honest, so the number is agreed over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. The car changes it, and so does the postcode — Eastleigh, Westleigh, or anywhere further out in the EX postcode area.
You are not billed for cleaning that the diagnostic says will not work. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.
If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Eastleigh — the clean carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Great service, Dave the the guy he fixed my car was very friendly and helpful. D P F fixer highly recommended company, thank you.
The DPF Fixer technician was prompt, thorough and professional, and most importantly, 3 days later my car passed its MOT (having previously failed on emissions) - we could not be happier!

The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover round Eastleigh
A single on-site service covers cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is done in place rather than carried anywhere.
Eastleigh is rarely a special trip: technicians are working Old Barnstaple Road nearly every week, and the same run covers Westleigh, Woodtown and the villages out past Horwood. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so call still from further out across Devon.

Questions Eastleigh drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes or so to Tesco and back.
- About how long does it take?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- How much does it cost in Eastleigh?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both change the price.
- Do I have to be around?
- The motor needs a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Come along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone travel to Eastleigh?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the EX area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Cleaned where it sits, on this service, so no. Getting a filter off or putting one back on amount to anything a job we do whichever way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Eastleigh.
