Mobile DPF Cleaning across Eastcott, Wiltshire

On-site DPF cleaning travels to the car. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer travels to your door over in Eastcott, treats the diesel particulate filter as it sits, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.

The light is on already and the car is short of power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page deals with.

DPF light on? What comes next

It may not be the filter in the end. That is the opening thing. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a diagnostic and not with a clean.

The use you manage in the meantime tells. That is the second thing.

  • A long steady run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle goes fine. Costs nothing at all, so have a go at that before booking.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and book it in.

What the motor has been showing you

By the time the light arrives, things have normally been going wrong for some time. It is late news:

  • tailing off on power, especially uphill
  • you see the revs fall short of where they once went
  • fuel use that is worse than before
  • a stop/start that has silently packed in
  • smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there

Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. The light beside them indicates a full filter.

Why diesel particulate filters choke round Eastcott

Eastcott is a rural hamlet, and the driving that belongs to one is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration needs long enough and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to St Barnabas Church of England School, Market Lavington, not on Eastcott Common at half past eight, not on a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the run to Pewsey. The soot banks up rather than burning off.

The M4 stands under 25 miles from Eastcott, Salisbury under 25 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way often, full weeks pass without the sustained run that clears a unit. Geography does not assist.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode stops it

What limp mode means is the motor looking after itself. The entire catch is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is held down.

The common advice — take it up the motorway — is good, until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are past that point, and the filter wants treatment rather than road work.

The vehicle stays where it is for on-site DPF cleaning across Eastcott

Nothing is taken from the car. That surprises people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can stand for a few hours.

First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a mass, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it read before a thing is started.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are loosened after that, by a solution fed through the access point on that car, which spreads inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on badly loaded filters.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Stay with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Eastcott. Park it and the regeneration is done in place, with live data verified once it is done.

Both read-outs are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what confirms the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still showing.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Cleaning cures one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • the EGR valve jammed open
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • turbo problems, with oil entering the filter

The first diagnostic is there for just that. When one of those proves the fault, you hear about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands already.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into work.

DPF cleaning prices across Eastcott

A call-out charge stands whatever happens, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice passed on. The clean itself begins from £299.

The price is settled by the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. Two separate things change it: what you own, and where you are — Eastcott itself, over at Easterton, or further out in the SN postcode area.

You are not billed for a clean that the check says will not work. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Eastcott.

The DPF engineer resolved the Exhaust filter issues with our vehicle. He was very efficient and explained the process and what was happening as well as recommendations on how to avoid future problems. Excellent service.

Andy M.

Absolutely spot on service, Chris travelled all the way from Wrexham to Lytham St Anne's. Spent a few hours on my car, no issues since. Service from the booking office easy and hassle free and friendly. Can't recommend them enough.

Damon H.

Had a clean. Didn't fix problem. Came back out. Still didn't fix the problem. Wast of time and £400.

Where we travel round Eastcott, and what we clean

Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one mobile service stands, and the filter never quits it.

Our engineers are along Eastcott Common nearly every week, so Eastcott is seldom a detour, and the same run covers Easterton, Fiddington Sands and the places out past Lavington Sands. Phone anyway from further out across Wiltshire. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the date you are offered depends on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

A word on Eastcott

Questions Eastcott drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?
Sometimes, if you catch it early enough and the vehicle has not fallen into limp mode. Five minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a while, will.
Broadly how long does it last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can take a second clean, which adds to that.
What does it cost across Eastcott?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we settle it on the phone.
Must I be around in person?
A spot for the motor to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would rather ride along.
Can someone come to Eastcott soon?
You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the SN area.
Is the filter removed from the car?
Not on the mobile service — it is cleaned where it is. Nor does getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
An engineer travels back out to Eastcott — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
