Dyke, Lincolnshire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the car. No garage, no filter coming off. A technician comes to your address across Dyke, cleans the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
You'll know a number by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Written for the position most owners are in: the light showing, the car short for power, and the clean still to fix.
Your DPF light is showing — what next?
Not the DPF, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. A number of faults put the same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with cleaning.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, car even now driving as normal — a long constant run can still sort it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you ring anything.
- That window has shut once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not do it now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
By the time the light appears, things have normally been deteriorating for some time. It is belated news:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- you see the revs stop short of where they once went
- fuel consumption going worse
- a stop/start that has meekly packed in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
That is not evidence on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke round Dyke
Being a village, Dyke produces just the motoring a DPF copes with worst. None of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to The Morton Church of England (Controlled) Primary School, Charlies Yard barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to Lincolnshire Co-op, the run to Spalding. The unburnt soot collects rather than clearing.
The map does not assist either. The Great North Road is under 25 miles from Dyke and Peterborough is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long steady run that would scour the filter by itself.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
What limp mode means is the motor defending itself. The entire catch is that a long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is capped.
Sound advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: cleaning is what will do it, not more driving.
DPF cleaning at the motor across Dyke
The filter does not come off. That is the part most drivers do not expect: the job happens with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a few hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are ruled out. That means a check first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a look over of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related parts.
A solution then is injected through the access port on that car, opening out inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.
What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Dyke; if not, statically where the vehicle sits, with the live data read afterwards.
A second scan confirms the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are sent over, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
Where a clean is not the solution
One thing is what a clean cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor flagging a block that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration completing at all
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
That is what the first scan is for. Turning out to be one of them means finding out it before the work starts, not after handing over for it.
Two things more worth noting. Leaving the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
The figure for DPF cleaning in Dyke
The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.
Once we have what you own, and about what the filter will want, the number gets agreed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. The motor changes it, and so does the address — Dyke, Cawthorpe, or somewhere further out in the PE postcode area.
Where the check says cleaning will not help, you are not charged for cleaning. What still applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was carried out and the advice was given.
If the light comes back inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Dyke — the job comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Really helpful on the phone call, didn't have to wait long for an appointment with the engineer, then engineer was great.
Very professional, polite service. not cheap but worth every penny. I'm so happy with result strongly recommend. to use this service. after many disappointments with another companies. Thank you.
excellent service! came to my place of work, did not need to remove the DPF from the car and it only took a couple hours. Car performance and fuel efficiency has significantly improved. very happy with this service and price.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to near Dyke
Whatever it is — car, van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same on-site service holds, and the filter never departs it.
Our engineers are along Charlies Yard nearly every week, so Dyke is rarely a special trip, and the same run covers Cawthorpe, Bourne and the villages out past Morton. Further out through Lincolnshire is nonetheless worth a call — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that decides between today and tomorrow.

Questions Dyke drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- It might, provided you catch it in time and limp mode has not arrived. A steady run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes flat to Lincolnshire Co-op and back.
- About how long does it last?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- What does it run to across Dyke?
- Cleaning starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why pricing is done by phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the motor only wants somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. Preferring to be there is welcome: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Dyke?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the PE area.
- Does the filter come off the car?
- Done where it is, on this service, so no. We never get filters off or put them back on, either way.
- And if the light reappears?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Dyke.
