Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Durn, Greater Manchester
Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter drives out to your door across Durn, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the price is fixed over the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is already on and the motor is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most drivers get to us.
Your DPF light is lit — what then?
It may not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the main thing. Several faults put the same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with cleaning.
It tells what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Vehicle yet driving fine on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly sorts the filter without assistance.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not touch it. The window has gone.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.
Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been growing for some time:
- power tailing off, particularly climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not rise as before
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
None of that is evidence on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Clogged diesel particulate filters near Durn, and the reason
Being a residential suburb, Durn generates precisely the driving a DPF handles least well. Run through a normal week: Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School and back, Oak Street at a standstill before the hour, a five-minute run to The Co-operative Food, a hop to Littleborough. Not much there runs long enough or gets hot enough to finish a regeneration. Soot that should burn away banks up instead.
Save when you have a standing reason to drive out to the M62, under 3 miles from Durn, or over to Manchester under 15 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a long unbroken run. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it
The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is good advice, right until the day it is not. The filter wants treatment rather than driving once the motor has slipped into limp mode.
The motor stays put for on-site DPF cleaning across Durn
On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can stand for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter even now fitted on, which is the part most owners do not see coming.
First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it logged before anything is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are freed second, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on severely loaded filters.
What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Durn, with you along, or it is done where the vehicle sits and the real-time data is read once done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light cleared, anything still showing logged. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
What a DPF clean will not touch
One thing is what cleaning fixes — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a restriction that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
- the turbo pushing oil into the filter
Which is why the scan happens first. Turning out to be one of them means hearing it before the work starts, not after settling up anything.
Gutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is replaced — your original filter is cleared in place and put back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
DPF cleaning charges in Durn
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
Naming a flat rate would not be truthful. We agree it by phone, once the car and its expected needs are known. The motor changes it, and so does the address — Durn, Ealees, or anywhere farther out in the OL postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not work, you are not asked to pay for a clean. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the check and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Durn if the light reappears inside the period.
BRILLIANT SERVICE AND TEMUR EXPLAINED AND FIXED THE VEHICLE VERY QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY, VAN NOW BACK TO WORK. THANK YOU.
dave was polite, very informative and explained very clearly what he was doing. there was no pressure in any work to be carried, over all very impressed with the service and will definitely use again.
Dan and Rob attended to my vehicle. I was kept informed prior to their arrival. When they arrived they analysed my car and pointed out the faults. They did the job in just over an hour and advised me on post cleaning tips. I thought DPF service was very professional.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round Durn
A single mobile service takes in cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than moved anywhere.
Week in week out there is usually someone on Oak Street, so Durn hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Ealees, Littleborough and the places past Timbercliffe follow. Coverage runs UK-wide, so even further out around Greater Manchester is even so worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning across Durn
- Will a long drive clear it?
- If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — severely clogged filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it come to in Durn?
- Cleaning starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Must I be around in person?
- You need not stand with it — the motor simply wants somewhere to sit for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be done as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Durn?
- That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the OL area has available.
- Does the filter leave the vehicle?
- It is treated where it stands, on the mobile service. We never get filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
- And if the light comes back?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Durn.
