By the time the light shows, things have normally been going wrong for a while. It is late news:
- less power, above all climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- worse fuel use
- stop/start quietly bowing out
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. The light with them suggests a loaded filter.
