Mobile DPF Cleaning around Driby Top and Lincolnshire
With call-out DPF cleaning, we come to the car. The engineer turns up at your address across Driby Top and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
You'll know a number by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and what this page deals with.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the DPF, necessarily. Opening thing to get straight. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit starts with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then counts.
- A long even run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle runs as normal. Costs nothing, so try that before calling.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Stop planning long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
The vehicle has been telling you already
By the time the light shows, things have usually been deteriorating for weeks. It is last news:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- you find the revs never reach where they once went
- fuel economy getting worse
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
None of that is evidence alone. The light alongside them points at a blocked filter.
Clogged diesel particulate filters around Driby Top, and the reason
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you meet in a rural hamlet such as Driby Top. Think about an ordinary week: Alford Primary School and home again, Driby Lane at a halt before half nine, a quick trip to Lincolnshire Co-op, a dash to Thorpe Culvert. Nothing there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to see through a regeneration. The unburnt soot builds up rather than burning off.
Neither is distant from Driby Top: under 50 miles to the M180, under 50 miles to Lincoln. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the run that would clear a filter hardly ever comes.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. The whole difficulty is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is held down.
Taking it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds as far as a line. The filter wants cleaning rather than more driving once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done round Driby Top
Most drivers do not see coming this part: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF even now bolted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is read first, reporting soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still in play.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never move are loosened next, by a cleaning solution fed through the access port on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. Ride along with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Driby Top. Drop it and the regeneration runs in place, with live data checked once it is done.
A second check verifies the change, clears the warning light and notes anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed, so you end up with the before and after figures to hand.
Where cleaning is not the answer
A clean answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that hardly ever completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
That is what the first check is for. You are told before any work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a functioning DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth noting.
DPF cleaning charges across Driby Top
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Not one flat rate would be straight, so the price is settled over the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. What you run and where you are both move it: Driby Top itself, over at Driby, or otherwise out across the LN postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for treatment that the check says will not work. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer heads back to Driby Top.
Came within the time specified. Done the job as requested and provided much needed advice on what the car needs going forward. I will definitely recommend to anyone.
Had a lad called daz come out to blocked dpf on a fiat 500 diagnostic check and clean explained from start to finish the faults excellent job and showed what caused the problem and what I need to replace to stop future problems.
The service was great. I book for my dpf system to be cleaned and it was done the following day at home. Great work by Liamf along with post service status and maintenance advice.
What we clean, and how far we travel round Driby Top
The one on-site service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Engineers are along Driby Lane nearly every week, so Driby Top is seldom a special trip, and the same run covers Driby, South Thoresby and the places out past Ulceby. Farther out through Lincolnshire is still worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between today and tomorrow.

What Driby Top drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive clear it?
- Quickly enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Lincolnshire Co-op and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- What does it come to around Driby Top?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself begins from £299. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you are both change the number.
- Do I have to be around?
- The car wants a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a supervised drive instead.
- Can someone come to Driby Top soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the LN area.
- The filter — does it come off the motor?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. We never get filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- And if the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Driby Top.
