Mobile DPF Cleaning in Doddycross and Cornwall
With mobile DPF cleaning, we come to the vehicle. The fitter turns up at your address over in Doddycross and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the car, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the figure is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the vehicle is short of power — that is how we usually find people, and roughly what this page is about.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A clean is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same signal.
How the motor is run in the meantime matters too.
- Vehicle still driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and frequently clears the filter without assistance.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under the throttle, is the moment to stop planning long drives and call.
Before the light, what the motor was warning you
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to grow for a while before it appears:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- worse fuel economy
- quietly, the stop/start packs in
- the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you press on
Alone, none of that is evidence. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Doddycross, and the reason
Being a rural hamlet, Doddycross generates precisely the use a DPF handles the poorest. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Menheniot Primary School, Trewint Road barely moving at half eight, a few minutes to Morrisons, the hop to Menheniot. Instead of clearing, the soot load builds up.
Geography does not help either. The M5 is under 50 miles from Doddycross and Plymouth is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, whole weeks slip past without the long steady run that might empty the filter by itself.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. The real catch is that a proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not pull and power is limited.
So the common advice to get it up the motorway is good advice, right until it is not. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are beyond that stage, and the filter requires cleaning rather than driving.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle round Doddycross
Most drivers do not expect this detail: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a few hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That means a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts.
Then the treatment. A cleaning solution goes in through the entry point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Doddycross if you are there, or a static regeneration where the motor sits, with the running data read once done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change confirmed, the light cleared, anything still open written down. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
The problems a DPF clean cannot fix
Only one fault is answered by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure sensors flagging a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- an AdBlue system failure
- a regeneration that never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before any work starts, not after paying anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into use.
What DPF cleaning comes to across Doddycross
Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it over phone, once the vehicle and its probable needs are established. The vehicle moves it, and so does the location — Doddycross, Menheniot, or somewhere farther out in the PL postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts a clean out, there is not a penny to pay for it. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the check was run and the advice was offered.
The work comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Doddycross if the light returns inside that time.
Dave arrived on time very professional and fixed the problem so back on road and gave me advice to keep it clean. Many thanks. Jonathan.
Great service from Nic. Arrived on time and dealt with the blocked DPF in my Mazda 6 2.2 diesel with ease. I received a clear report with advisories for my local garage to deal with, plus excellent advice to avoid further issues. Highly recommended.
Liam the DPF technician really did a good job, my Audi a6 had limited power and after cleaning and changing sensors it was perfect.
Where we reach around Doddycross, and what we clean
Private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery — the one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.
Most weeks there is usually someone on Trewint Road, so Doddycross seldom means a journey of its own, and Menheniot, Lower Clicker and the spots past Quethiock are on the way. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call anyway from farther out around Cornwall.

What Doddycross drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It wants a sustained run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Morrisons and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- Price in Doddycross — what is it?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why pricing goes by phone.
- Must I be present in person?
- Somewhere for the vehicle to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
- When can someone travel to Doddycross?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is available across the PL area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it sits. Lifting a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything something we do either way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Doddycross.
