Mobile DPF Cleaning across Docklow, Herefordshire

Mobile DPF cleaning goes to the car. Your vehicle is not taken away and the filter will not leave it. A technician turns up at your door over in Docklow, clears the diesel particulate filter still on the motor and carries out a DPF regeneration.

Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed on the phone before anyone travels.

The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we generally find people, and precisely what this page is about.

What to check when the DPF light comes on

It may not be the unit whatsoever. That is the main thing. Several faults put the same light on the very same dash, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with cleaning.

The driving you do in the meantime tells. That is the second thing.

  • A long steady run may even now be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor runs normally. Costs zero, so attempt that before calling.
  • Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has closed.
  • Get it seen to rather than using it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

The car has been warning you already

The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have generally been growing for weeks:

  • tailing off on power, particularly uphill
  • the revs no longer climb the way they used to
  • fuel consumption turning worse
  • the stop/start quietly packing in
  • diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears

That is not proof alone. Next to the light, it is a fair guess the filter is loaded.

Blocked diesel particulate filters round Docklow, and the reason

Docklow is a rural hamlet, and the day-to-day driving that goes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Stoke Prior Primary School, Worcester Road crawling at half past eight, five minutes to Four Seasons, the dash to Leominster. The unburnt soot banks up rather than clearing.

Unless you have a regular reason to drive out to the M50, under 25 miles from Docklow, or out to Hereford under 15 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.

Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

What limp mode amounts to is the vehicle protecting itself. With pulling power capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires will not complete at all. That matters, because setting off one is precisely what a motorway run does.

The common advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: a clean is what will work, not more road work.

A blocked DPF cleaned in Docklow, Herefordshire

The vehicle stays where it is for on-site DPF cleaning round Docklow

The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can sit for a couple of hours.

The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.

A cleaning fluid then is fed in through the access point on that motor, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.

A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Docklow, with you there, or it runs where the motor waits and the running data is checked after.

Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second diagnostic is what verifies the change, clears the light and notes whatever is still showing.

The problems a DPF clean cannot fix

A clean cures one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a block that is not real
  • a failed EGR valve
  • AdBlue system failures
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
  • oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo

Which is why the diagnostic happens first. You are warned before the work begins, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people look up, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is cleared in place and returned into use. Two more worth noting.

DPF cleaning charges across Docklow

A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

No single flat rate would be honest, so the figure is fixed over the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Two separate things change it: what you drive, and where you are — Docklow itself, over at Pudleston, or further out across the HR postcode area.

You are not billed for cleaning that the scan says will not do it. You still pay that charge: someone travelled, did the diagnostic and offered you the advice.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer returns to Docklow.

Really good service. Everything explained clearly. Pointed out some other engine issues to check out which was very helpful. Expensive compared to other companies but with the 28 day warranty I felt happy to pay to get the best service. Couldn't fault the engineer he was excellent.

Siobhan P.

Great work from Daz cleaning the DPF and all round great advice and information. And all done at home with their door to door service.

Where we reach near Docklow, and what we clean

Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles — one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than moved anywhere.

Nearly every week there is usually someone on Worcester Road, so Docklow rarely means a special trip, and Pudleston, Steens Bridge and the villages past Risbury follow. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone still from even further out around Herefordshire.

Things Docklow drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a steady stretch, rather than a short trip to Four Seasons.
How long does the visit run?
Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
What does it run to in Docklow?
Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the scan and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
Must I be there in person?
No. The car needs space to sit for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
Coming to Docklow — how soon?
That hangs on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the HR area.
Will the filter be taken off?
Cleaned where it is, on this service, so no. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Docklow.
