Mobile DPF Cleaning across Dean and Dorset

Mobile DPF cleaning comes to the motor. An engineer turns up at your address across Dean, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the motor, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

Nobody sets off until the price is agreed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

Most owners find us with the light already on, and the car down on power. That is the position this page is aimed at.

What to do when the DPF light shows

The unit is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. That light can follow plenty of faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a scan and not with treatment.

The use you manage in the meantime tells. That is the other thing.

  • Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one constant run, no charge.
  • That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
  • Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.

What the car has been telling you

By the time the light shows, things have usually been deteriorating for a while. It is last news:

  • climbing uphill, the power drops away
  • you see the revs stop short of where they once went
  • worse fuel use
  • the stop/start quietly packing in
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears

Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.

What chokes diesel particulate filters around Dean

Dean is a rural hamlet, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest type for a DPF. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and has none: not on the school run to Sixpenny Handley First School and Nursery, not on Straight Lane at half eight, not on ten minutes to Lidl, and not on the dash to Tisbury. The soot collects rather than burning away.

Except when you have a standing reason to get out to the M27, under 25 miles from Dean, or over to Salisbury under 15 miles away, weeks pass without a long steady run. Geography is unhelpful.

The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode is. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can no longer run — which is the whole catch, because a long drive works by starting that regeneration.

Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that stage: treatment is what will work, not more road work.

DPF cleaning at the car in Dean

Most drivers do not see coming this bit: the filter stays put. The job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the motor — on your front, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a few hours.

The ECU is interrogated first, showing soot load by percentage and by mass, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are lifted next, by a solution put through the access port on that car, which expands inside the filter. Heavily clogged filters sometimes need a second pass.

A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Dean if you are there, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the live data read once done.

Then a second check, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are recorded.

Where treatment is not the solution

One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a pressure sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • a regeneration that never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • turbo trouble, with oil entering the filter

The first check is there for exactly that. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before the work starts, not after handing over a penny.

DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is cleared where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth knowing.

Figures for DPF cleaning across Dean

A clean starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

Naming a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it by phone, once the car and its expected needs are established. What you drive and where you are both change it: Dean itself, over at Woodcutts, or further out within the SP postcode area.

You are not charged for a clean that the check says will not work. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so stands.

A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Dean if the light comes back inside the window.

Logan fixed my problem quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with him and DPF Fixer. I will recommend the company in future.

Nic came out and fixed my dpf and emissions light, did a fantastic job my car is now running full speed again after going into limp mode.

Sarah H.

Excellent service from mobile DPF cleaner. Booked around lunchtime, then a same day service, albeit quite late in the evening by the time the mechanic arrived! However, he got the job done, and advised me of what else was needed to ensure that I didn't have any recurrence.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover round Dean

The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is carried anywhere.

The same round that has technicians on Straight Lane most weeks picks up Dean, Woodcutts, Minchington and the spots beyond Farnham. Farther out around Dorset is nonetheless worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that settles between today and tomorrow.

Things Dean drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
It may, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not begun. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes or so to Lidl and back.
Does the visit last long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can take a second clean, which lengthens that.
Around Dean, what does it run to?
Starting from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
Must I be there in person?
Space for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
How soon can someone come to Dean?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the SP area.
The filter — does it leave the car?
It is treated where it stands, on the on-site service. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
What if the light returns?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Dean.
