Daggons, Dorset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. Your motor will not be taken anywhere and the filter will not budge. An engineer turns up at your door over in Daggons, cleans the diesel particulate filter on the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.
You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
If the light is showing and the vehicle is low on power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners get to us.
DPF light on? What to do
First thing: it is not necessarily the DPF. A diagnostic comes before all work, because that same dashboard light has several candidate faults behind it.
The driving you get in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.
- Car still driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long steady run first. It costs nothing and frequently sorts the filter without assistance.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, a long run will not touch it. The window has closed.
- Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
The vehicle has been telling you already
The light is last news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been mounting for some time:
- pulling uphill, the power tails off
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- fuel economy getting worse
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on
That is not evidence by itself. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
Clogged diesel particulate filters near Daggons, and the cause
Being a small village, Daggons generates precisely the motoring a DPF handles the poorest. The school run to St James' Church of England First School and Nursery, Alderholt, Cranborne Road at a crawl at half past eight, a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, the dash to Salisbury — none of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. The unburnt soot builds up rather than clearing.
The map does not assist either. The M27 is under 15 miles from Daggons and Salisbury is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the long steady run that could clear the filter by itself.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
What limp mode comes down to is the car defending itself. Pulling power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter needs can not run — which is the real difficulty, because a proper drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — until the moment it is not. The filter wants a clean rather than more driving once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Daggons
On your front, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter yet fixed on, which is the bit most drivers do not see coming.
Nothing is started until other faults are ruled out. That involves a diagnostic first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle and expands inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes required on severely blocked filters.
A regeneration is next, driving off what the clean has loosened. Come with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Daggons. Leave it and the regeneration runs statically, with real-time data read once it is done.
Then a second scan, proving the change, putting out the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both read-outs are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing a clean cures. It will not touch:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a restriction that is not there
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter
Finding that out is the first check's purpose. You are warned before the work starts, not after you have settled up, if it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
Figures for DPF cleaning in Daggons
A call-out charge applies whatever the outcome, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice offered. Cleaning itself begins from £299.
No single flat rate would be straight, so the number is settled on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. What you run and where you are both shift it: Daggons itself, across at Cripplestyle, or further out across the SP postcode area.
Where the check says a clean will not do it, you are not billed for cleaning. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, did the check and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Daggons if the light comes back inside the window.
Igor, the technician was fantastic, prompt and explained what was going on with the dpf, fully recommend this company for any dpf issues.
Zoltan came to our house today to fix our DPF. He arrived promptly, gave us all the information and was absolutely professional and knowledgeable. He was friendly and explained everything he did so we fully understood. He's an asset to your company.
Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.
Where we get to near Daggons, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Our engineers are along Cranborne Road nearly every week, so Daggons is hardly ever a detour, and the same run covers Cripplestyle, Crendell and the spots out past Alderholt. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out across Dorset is nonetheless worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Daggons drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- If you spot it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes to The Co-operative Food and back.
- The visit takes how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can require a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it come to around Daggons?
- It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both shift the figure.
- Must I be present in person?
- The vehicle requires a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone travel to Daggons soon?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the SP area.
- Will the filter be removed?
- Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. Neither job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- An engineer comes back out to Daggons — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
