Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Curran, County Londonderry
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. A technician comes at your place in Curran, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the price is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we usually come across people, and what this page covers.
The DPF light is on. What next?
It might not be the DPF whatsoever. That is the main thing. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same panel, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.
It counts what you do with the motor between now and the booking.
- Worth a go before you book anything: amber light, motor driving fine, just one even run, no charge.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, a long run will not touch it. The window has gone.
- Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
The vehicle has been telling you already
The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have generally been mounting for weeks:
- dropping away on power, especially uphill
- an engine whose revs will not rise as they should
- worse fuel use
- quietly, the stop/start gives up
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
That is not proof on its own. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
The explanation diesel particulate filters clog near Curran
Curran is a small village, and the day-to-day driving that comes with one is the poorest type for a DPF. Nothing of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, Wallace Cottages barely moving at half eight, five minutes to the local shops, the hop to the nearest station. What should clear stays behind.
Where you sit does not oblige either. The M77 is over 50 miles from Curran and Lisburn is under 50 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, weeks slip past without the sustained run that could clear the filter alone.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer run
What limp mode means is the vehicle defending itself. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration possible.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: treatment is what will work, not more miles.
The motor stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning round Curran
On your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the car can stand for a while: the job takes place with the filter even now bolted on, which is the part most drivers do not expect.
A scan happens first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are cleared before any of it is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never budge are lifted next, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then burned off by a regeneration. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Curran; if not, statically where the car waits, with the running data read after.
Then a second scan, proving the change, clearing the warning light and noting anything still logged. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not fix
One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- AdBlue system problems
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running whatsoever
- oil working through the filter from a worn turbo
The first check is there for just that. Where it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work begins rather than after you have handed over a penny.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you own is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
The price of DPF cleaning in Curran
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that follows.
Not one flat rate would be straight, so the number is agreed over the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the address — Curran, Knockcloghrim, or a spot farther out in the BT postcode area.
You are not billed for cleaning that the scan says will not do it. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone came out, ran the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
The clean includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Curran if the light comes back inside that window.
The service was good and quick. After the service he let me know what he done and what else needs to done to my car.
Outstanding customer service provided by Liam. The communication was exceptional, and I was consistently updated on all aspects, including the estimated time of arrival (ETA). Liam successfully resolved the PDF issue, and I am very satisfied with his work. I would highly recommend his services for PDF-related tasks.
Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.
What we clean, and how far we go round Curran
A single on-site service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
Nearly every week there is already someone on Wallace Cottages, so Curran hardly ever means a special trip, and Knockcloghrim, Gulladuff and the spots past Magherafelt come with it. Further out around County Londonderry is still worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Curran
- Does a long run shift it?
- Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a steady run, rather than a brief trip to the local shops.
- How long does the visit run?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
- How much does it run to around Curran?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for coming out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Settling it is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both move the number.
- Is it necessary for me to be there?
- You do not need to stand with it — the vehicle just requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- Getting to Curran — how soon?
- Depending on the diary, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the BT area.
- Does the filter come away from the car?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. And neither does taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Curran.
