Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Crick, Monmouthshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. The fitter arrives at your address in Crick and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated on the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you keep the filter you started with.
Budget for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled by the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is on already and the vehicle is low on power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners get to us.
The DPF light is on. What next?
The unit is not automatically what is at fault, and that leads. A clean is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults show up as the same light.
It tells what you get with the motor between now and the visit.
- Worth a shot before you call anything: amber light, motor driving as normal, just one constant run, no cost.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has shut.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.
What the motor has been telling you
Symptoms have generally been building for some time before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all going uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they used to
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Any one of those, taken alone, is not conclusive. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Choked diesel particulate filters round Crick, and the reason
Crick is a coastal village, and the motoring that belongs to one is the worst sort for a DPF. A regeneration needs the time and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Lift Offa's Mead, not on A48 at the morning rush, not on ten minutes to Asda, and not on the run to Caldicot. The soot collects rather than burning away.
Neither is distant from Crick: under a mile to the M48, under 15 miles to Newport. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the drive that would clear a filter hardly ever comes.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
The car is protecting itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. Output is limited, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can not run — which is the entire difficulty, because a sustained drive works by setting off that regeneration.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. Past that line — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter wants treatment.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Crick
On your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter yet fixed on, which is the part most drivers do not anticipate.
A check comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are ruled out before anything is cleaned.
A solution next is fed in through the access port on that vehicle, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Crick; if not, in place where the car waits, with the live data read once done.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still outstanding written down. Both read-outs come to you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where cleaning is not the fix
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment cures. It will not touch:
- pressure sensors flagging a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. Transpiring to be one of them means hearing it before work gets going, not after paying anything.
Two more worth noting. Having the filter gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.
What DPF cleaning runs to in Crick
A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it on the phone, once the car and its likely needs are clear. A pair of things shift it: what you own, and where you are — Crick itself, over at Leechpool, or further out within the NP postcode area.
If the check counts treatment out, there is not a penny to pay for it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still applies.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Crick if the light returns inside the period.
Great and speedy service. DPF now completely clean and running smooth. Liam who did the clean was friendly, and very informative of the process. Would recommend these guys.
Excellent service provided by DPF Fixer. They checked the computer system and cleaned the catalytic converter. After they reset and took readings to show improvements. An excellent service provided. Would recommend this company.
The mechanic technician (Andras) who came for the DPF cleaning was very experienced and highly skilled in his work.
What we clean, and how far we go round Crick
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Our engineers are along A48 most weeks, so Crick is seldom a special trip, and the same run covers Leechpool, Caer-went and the spots out past Caldicot. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out around Monmouthshire is still worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Things Crick drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- If you spot it early, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes or so to Asda and back.
- Roughly how long does it last?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- What does it run to around Crick?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
- Have I need to be around?
- No. The car requires a spot to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a watched drive.
- How soon can someone come to Crick?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the NP area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the on-site service. We do not get filters off or fit them back on, either way.
- And if the light returns?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Crick.
