Before the light, what the car was telling you
Symptoms have normally been mounting for weeks before the light even shows. Last news, in other words:
- falling off on power, above all uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- the fuel consumption is worse
- stop/start quietly giving up
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. The light beside them points at a loaded filter.
The cause diesel particulate filters clog around Cressage
