By the time the light shows, things have normally been deteriorating for a while. It is late news:
- less power, especially pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- the fuel consumption is worse
- stop/start without a word giving up
- the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
None of that is evidence alone. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Corrie
Being a coastal village, Corrie produces just the motoring a DPF handles the poorest.
