Mobile DPF Cleaning for Coombe, Cornwall

Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. The fitter turns up at your place over in Coombe and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you hold on to the filter you started with.

Nobody leaves until the figure is fixed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

Most people find us with the light on already, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is meant for.

What to check when the DPF light is on

It could not be the DPF in the end. That is the opening thing. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a scan and not with a clean.

How the vehicle is run in the meantime counts too.

  • Amber light, car yet driving normally — a long steady run can yet clear it on its own. Costs zero, and worth a try before you book anything.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
  • Get it seen to rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

What the motor has been showing you

By the time the light appears, things have usually been going wrong for weeks. It is belated news:

  • climbing uphill, the power falls off
  • revs that will not rise the way they once did
  • the fuel use is down
  • stop/start quietly bowing out
  • the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

That is not conclusive on its own. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is there too.

The cause diesel particulate filters clog round Coombe

Being a rural hamlet, Coombe generates precisely the motoring a DPF manages least well. Not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration: the school run to St Mark's CofE Academy, King William's Bridge crawling at half past eight, a few minutes to Sainsbury's, the dash to the nearest station. Soot that should burn away collects instead.

The M5 sits under 50 miles from Coombe, Plymouth under 50 miles away, and unless something pulls you out that way routinely, whole weeks go by without the sustained run that empties a DPF. Geography does not oblige.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it

It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. Power is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter requires can never run — which is the whole catch, because a proper drive works by starting that regeneration.

The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. Once the car is in limp mode you are the far side of that point, and the filter requires cleaning rather than more driving.

A blocked DPF cleaned in Coombe, Cornwall

Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Coombe

On your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a few hours: the job is done with the filter even now fixed on, which is the part most owners do not see coming.

First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated hardware — all of it read before a thing is started.

Next comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access port, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Coombe, with you along, or it is done where the car waits and the running data is verified afterwards.

Then a second scan, proving the change, putting out the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.

When a DPF clean is not the solution

One thing is what a clean fixes — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a block that is not there
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • the AdBlue system going wrong
  • a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil working through the filter from a failing turbo

Which is why the diagnostic comes first. If it proves to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have settled up anything.

Two more worth noting. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.

The cost for DPF cleaning in Coombe

Every visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, making the booking, running the scan and giving the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.

No single flat rate would be truthful, so the price is fixed over the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Where you are counts as much as what you own: Coombe itself, Woodford nearby, or further out across the EX postcode area.

Where the check says a clean will not work, you are not charged for a clean. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Coombe.

What we clean, and how far we reach round Coombe

Whatever it is — estate, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same call-out service stands, and the filter never departs it.

Technicians are along King William's Bridge most weeks, so Coombe is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run covers Woodford, Collery and the places out past Shop. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call still from farther out through Cornwall.

Things Coombe drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
If you get it early, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Sainsbury's and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for a while, will.
How long does the visit take?
It is typically around 2 hours. A severely clogged filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
The cost across Coombe — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both move the price.
Is it necessary for me to be there?
The car requires a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a supervised drive instead.
Can someone get to Coombe soon?
That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is open across the EX area.
Will the filter be taken off?
It is treated where it sits, on the call-out service. Nor does taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
What if the light comes back?
An engineer comes back out to Coombe — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
