Mobile DPF Cleaning across Connon, Cornwall
With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. A technician turns up at your door in Connon, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
Allow for the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.
The light is on already and the vehicle is short of power — that is how we normally find people, and roughly what this page covers.
The DPF light is on. What then?
The filter is not automatically what is at fault, and that goes first. A diagnostic comes before all work, because that same dash light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, car yet driving as normal — a long steady run can even now sort it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you ring anything.
- Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it seen to.
The car has been warning you already
Last news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for some time before it arrives:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- you find the revs stop short of where they always went
- worse fuel use
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
Alone, none of that is proof. The light alongside them suggests a blocked filter.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Connon
Being a small village, Connon throws up exactly the driving a DPF manages the poorest. The school run to Braddock CofE Primary School, Trevelmond Lane at a halt at the morning rush, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Coombe — nothing of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. What should burn away remains.
The M5 stands under 50 miles from Connon, Plymouth under 25 miles away, and unless something carries you out that way routinely, full weeks pass without the sustained run that clears a filter. Geography does not assist.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
What limp mode amounts to is the motor defending itself. With output held down and the revs held, the regeneration the filter needs can never run at all. That tells, because starting one is precisely what a motorway run does.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. In limp mode you are past that stage: cleaning is what will work, not more driving.
On-site DPF cleaning where the car stands in Connon
Most drivers do not see coming this part: the filter remains. The job happens with the DPF still fixed to the car — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a while.
First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it read before any of it is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are freed second, by a cleaning fluid fed through the access port on that car, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean freed. Ride along with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of Connon. Park it and the regeneration runs in place, with real-time data verified once it is done.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both read-outs are sent over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
What a DPF clean will not fix
A clean answers one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure, flagging a restriction that is not real
- the EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system failure
- a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's job. You are let know before the work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
Hollowing the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the term people type in, though nothing is replaced — your original filter is cleaned in place and returned into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
The figure for DPF cleaning across Connon
The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
The price is fixed on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be straight. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the address — Connon, St Pinnock, or a spot otherwise out in the PL postcode area.
If the check rules treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Connon if the light reappears inside the time.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in near Connon
The filter is done in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Our engineers are along Trevelmond Lane week in week out, so Connon is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run covers St Pinnock, Redpost and the spots out past East Taphouse. Phone anyway from further out across Cornwall. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the day you are offered hangs on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Things Connon drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Price in Connon — what is it?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we settle it on the phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- No. The motor requires a spot to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Connon?
- That hangs on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the PL area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything something we do in either direction.
- The light comes back — then what?
- An engineer heads back out to Connon — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
