Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Conasta, Highland

The vehicle stays in place — mobile DPF cleaning goes to it. A technician arrives at your place over in Conasta, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.

The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the figure is settled on the phone before anyone sets off.

If the light is showing and the car is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most owners get to us.

Your DPF light is on — what now?

The filter is not automatically what is at fault, and that goes first. A check comes before the work, because that same panel light has several likely faults behind it.

It counts what you manage with the car between now and the booking.

  • A long even run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the vehicle drives as normal. Costs nothing at all, so try that before booking.
  • That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
  • Stop planning long drives and get it seen to if the cabin stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.

Signs the car has been giving you

By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is last news:

  • going uphill, the power drops away
  • revs that will not climb the way they once did
  • the fuel consumption is worse
  • quietly, the stop/start packs in
  • smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there

Alone, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is showing too.

What clogs diesel particulate filters round Conasta

For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the type you find around a coastal area such as Conasta. Run through a typical week: the local primary school and home again, Conista Road at a standstill before the hour, a five-minute run to Uig Filling Station – Shop & Takeaway, a hop to the nearest station. Nothing there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot that should burn off banks up instead.

The M9 lies over 50 miles from Conasta, Inverness over 50 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the long steady run that clears a filter. Geography does not help.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode ends it

What limp mode comes down to is the motor protecting itself. A sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.

The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that stage: cleaning is what will work, not more road work.

The filter does not budge. That is the part most drivers do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a few hours.

First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it read before anything is cleaned.

After that comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own entry point, spreading inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Come with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Conasta. Leave it and the regeneration runs in place, with running data checked once it is done.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.

Where cleaning is not the solution

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a block that is not there
  • a stuck-open EGR valve
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever completes
  • turbo problems, with oil reaching the filter

That is what the first scan is for. If one of those proves the fault, you hear about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands already.

Two things more worth knowing. Getting the filter gutted is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use.

What DPF cleaning runs to in Conasta

Cleaning begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

No flat rate would be honest, so the figure is agreed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. What you own and where you are both change it: Conasta itself, out at Solitote, or further out within the IV postcode area.

Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not asked to pay for treatment. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was given.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer comes back to Conasta.

A vehicle having its DPF cleaned in Conasta

DPF Fixer booked an engineer out within 24hrs and arrived on time, Andras was very professional, polite and most importantly cleaned my vans DPF thoroughly and got me back on the road with good aftercare advice. Will certainly use them again in the future.

Happy with the operative it came and worked on more van the van run lovely for 3 days and then the engine light come back on again and it went back into restrictive so I need to get in touch to with the company to see where we go.

Peter R.

Good service! They cleaned up my DPF and fault diagnosed 2 other issues. I went and ordered a new glow plug relay and air mass sensor. Replaced on arrival. cleared the faults with an OBD and voila! All lights out and my van now runs like a stallion! Happy days.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Conasta

Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same on-site service stands, and the filter never leaves it.

Most weeks there is usually someone on Conista Road, so Conasta hardly ever means a special trip, and Solitote, Shulista and the villages past Kilvaxter are on the way. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out around Highland is still worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Conasta itself

Conasta is a small coastal locality in the Highland county of Scotland, situated at an elevation of 32 metres. Conasta lies near several other rural places, including Solitote, Shulista, and Kilmaluag, and is approximately 78 miles from the city of Inverness. Conasta has a population of around 127 people, who mostly reside in detached houses. Conasta is also relatively distant from major urban centres, being around 493 miles from London.

Things Conasta drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I just take it for a long drive?
Sometimes, if you spot it early and the vehicle has not fallen into limp mode. Ten minutes to Uig Filling Station – Shop & Takeaway and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for some time, will.
Does the visit take long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
Cost in Conasta — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the figure.
Have I got to be present?
No. The vehicle needs somewhere to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Wanting to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the move, monitored.
When can someone get to Conasta?
That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is free across the IV area.
Is the filter removed from the motor?
It is treated where it is, on the on-site service. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
Suppose the light returns?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Conasta.
