Mobile DPF Cleaning across Common Side, South Yorkshire
The motor stays in place — mobile DPF cleaning travels to it. No garage, no filter coming off. A technician travels to your place across Common Side, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the number is fixed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is on already and the motor is short of power — that is how we generally come across people, and precisely what this page covers.
DPF light on? What to do
The DPF is not always what is wrong, and that goes first. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — several faults show up as the same warning.
It counts what you manage with the car between now and the appointment.
- Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one even run, no cost.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
- Get it looked at rather than driving it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.
Signs the motor has been showing you
The light is last news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been building for a while:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- the fuel use is poorer
- the stop/start without a word giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
None of that is proof by itself. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is there too.
What clogs diesel particulate filters round Common Side
The day-to-day driving that goes with a residential suburb like Common Side is the least kind type for a DPF. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Gleadless Primary School, Chatsworth Park Grove barely moving at half eight, a few minutes to Asda, the hop to Darnall. Instead of clearing, the soot load builds up.
Geography does not oblige either. The M1 is under 5 miles from Common Side and Sheffield is under 3 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, entire weeks pass without the long steady run that might empty the filter by itself.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. The entire catch is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.
Taking it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds right up to a limit. The filter requires treatment rather than more driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned across Common Side
Most owners do not expect this part: the filter remains. The job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the car — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a while.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning solution is fed in through the access point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes required on badly blocked filters.
What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Common Side, with you present, or it is done where the car stands and the running data is checked after.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both read-outs are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
Where treatment is not the fix
One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- EGR valves that hang open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration starting at all
- turbo problems, with oil entering the filter
Which is why the scan goes first. You are told before the work begins, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Cutting the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is swapped — your existing filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning charges around Common Side
The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
The figure is settled on the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be honest. What you drive and where you are both shift it: Common Side itself, out at Gleadless, or farther out in the S postcode area.
Treatment that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Common Side.
Couldn't be more happier awesome service straight to your front door. Baz you legend thanks so much for your help today you solved all my issues. Money well spent.
Very happy with the DPF clean car was well clogged up and not running correctly but now running perfectly, very happy.
Arrived as promised the next day. Very good explanation of the process. Went ahead with the clean and the car is now very responsive and quick with no warning lights. Thank you Ashley.
The vehicles we clean and the ground we reach around Common Side
Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated in place rather than carried anywhere.
Our engineers are along Chatsworth Park Grove week in week out, so Common Side is seldom a detour, and the same run takes in Gleadless, Elm Tree Hill and the spots out past Ridgeway. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out through South Yorkshire is even so worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning across Common Side
- Will a long drive clear it?
- It might, provided you catch it in time and limp mode has not begun. Five minutes to Asda and back will not do it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- The visit runs how long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily clogged filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- How much does it cost around Common Side?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you drive and where you are both shift the figure.
- Must I be present in person?
- You need not stand with it — the motor just wants space to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- Can someone come to Common Side soon?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the S area has free.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. Taking a filter off or putting one back on count as anything work we do either way.
- What if the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Common Side.
