Mobile DPF Cleaning for Collamoor Head, Cornwall

With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. Your motor isn't taken away and the filter will not leave it. A fitter comes at your place in Collamoor Head, treats the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.

You'll have a number by phone before anyone leaves, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

If the light is already on and the car is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers get to us.

What to do when the DPF light is on

It might not be the filter at all. That is the main thing. That light can follow a number of faults, not only one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with a clean.

It matters what you do with the motor between now and the booking.

  • Amber light, motor still driving normally — a long constant run can still sort it by itself. Costs zero, and worth a try before you book anything.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop arranging long drives and ring.

Signs the vehicle has been sending you

Symptoms have generally been growing for weeks before the light so much as arrives. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, above all going uphill
  • you notice the revs never reach where they used to go
  • fuel use that is worse than it used to be
  • a stop/start that has silently given up
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell inside

None of that is proof on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.

Why diesel particulate filters clog near Collamoor Head

Being a coastal area, Collamoor Head throws up just the motoring a DPF manages least well. Think about a normal week: Otterham Community Primary School and back, B3263 at a halt before nine, a five-minute run to Spar, a hop to the nearest station. Not much there runs long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot builds up.

The M5 sits under 50 miles from Collamoor Head, Plymouth under 50 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that empties a filter. Geography does not help.

Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration

What limp mode amounts to is the car protecting itself. With power capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter needs will not run at all. That matters, because setting off one is precisely what a sustained run does.

Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds right up to a point. In limp mode you are the far side of that line: a clean is what will work, not more driving.

On-site DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Collamoor Head

The filter does not budge. That is the detail most drivers do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF even now fitted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a couple of hours.

The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a review of sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated parts, so nothing is started while another fault is still open.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are freed next, by a cleaning fluid passed through the entry point on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily loaded filters.

A regeneration is next, driving off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Collamoor Head if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the real-time data read after.

A second diagnostic confirms the change, puts out the warning light and logs anything still open. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.

Where cleaning is not the answer

Treatment cures one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor showing a block that is not there
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • the AdBlue system playing up
  • worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
  • turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter

The first scan is there for precisely that. You are let know before any work begins, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

Prices for DPF cleaning across Collamoor Head

Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Once we know what you own, and broadly what the filter will need, the price gets settled over phone. A single price for all would not be truthful. Where you are counts as much as what you run: Collamoor Head itself, Trengune nearby, or further out within the PL postcode area.

Where the check says a clean will not do it, you are not billed for cleaning. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, did the diagnostic and offered you the advice.

If the light returns inside that window, an engineer heads back out to Collamoor Head — the job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

What we clean, and how far we go near Collamoor Head

Cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, agricultural machinery — one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

The same run that puts engineers on B3263 most weeks picks up Collamoor Head, Trengune, Caroe and the places beyond Higher Crackington. Farther out through Cornwall is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Things Collamoor Head drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run shift it?
Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a steady stretch, rather than a quick trip to Spar.
Roughly how long does it last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily loaded filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
Around Collamoor Head, what does it run to?
Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
Have I got to be present?
Somewhere for the vehicle to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. The regeneration can be run as a monitored drive if you would prefer to be there.
Can someone come to Collamoor Head soon?
That hangs on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is free across the PL area.
Will the filter be lifted off?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
The light reappears — then what?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Collamoor Head.
