Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Clunie, Perth and Kinross
The vehicle sits in place — on-site DPF cleaning travels to it. The engineer turns up at your address over in Clunie and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the vehicle, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.
Nobody leaves until the number is fixed on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the vehicle down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
It might not be the DPF in the end. That is the opening thing. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same signal.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, motor driving normally, just one steady run, no outlay.
- That window has closed once the car has slipped into limp mode. Driving will not get there now.
- Stop planning long drives and get it checked if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
The motor has been showing you already
Symptoms have normally been building for some time before the light ever appears. Last news, in other words:
- power dropping away, especially going uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- the fuel consumption is down
- the stop/start without a word giving up
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you press on
That is not evidence by itself. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog around Clunie
The driving that goes with an area like Clunie is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on Dunkeld Road at half eight, not on five minutes to Lidl, and not on the hop to Dunkeld & Birnam. The soot load collects rather than burning away.
Except when you have a standing reason to drive out to the M90, under 15 miles from Clunie, or over to Perth under 15 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long steady drive. Geography is against you.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode is. The entire difficulty is that a proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is capped.
The common advice — get it up the motorway — is good, right until it is not. Past that point — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Clunie
Nothing comes off the car. That throws people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, wherever it can wait for two hours or so.
The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percent and by weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so nothing is touched while another fault is still in play.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid is injected through the entry point on that car and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly clogged filters.
A regeneration comes next, driving off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Clunie if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the live data checked once done.
A second scan proves the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still open. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
What a DPF clean will not cure
A clean fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- AdBlue system failures
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration running in the first place
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. You are warned before all work starts, not after you have handed over, if it turns out to be one of those.
A couple more worth knowing. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is treated in place and put back into use.
The cost for DPF cleaning across Clunie
A call-out charge stands whatever the outcome, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice given. Cleaning itself starts from £299.
Once we are told what you run, and about what the filter will need, the figure gets fixed over phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. The place you are counts as much as what you drive: Clunie itself, Wester Essendy next door, or otherwise out across the PH postcode area.
If the scan counts treatment out, there is no charge to pay for it. What even so holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was done and the advice was passed on.
The job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Clunie if the light comes back inside that window.
Liam glory attended my vehicle, he was very professional and thorough in all his work and very informative with what I had to do next, I would use this company again and recommend to others.
I would like to thank dpf for a good and prompt service. Especially igor who came across very professional and polite while doing the job. He also checked everything before he left to see if there were any other issues. We'll done igor highly recommended.
Great experience, friendly and helpful. Stuck on holiday and no garages locally could help, gave these guys a call and within the hour Darren was there and had the problem sorted within a couple of hours!
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around Clunie
Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the very same mobile service applies, and the filter never quits it.
Clunie is hardly ever a special trip: engineers are along Dunkeld Road week in week out, and the same run picks up Wester Essendy, Kirkton of Lethendy and the villages out past Kinloch. Farther out across Perth and Kinross is even so worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Questions Clunie drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- Early enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a long stretch, rather than a brief trip to Lidl.
- Does the visit run long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly loaded.
- What does it cost across Clunie?
- Cleaning opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Do I have to be present?
- Somewhere for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would sooner be there.
- How soon can someone get to Clunie?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the PH area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- On the on-site service, no: the filter is done in place. We do not lift filters off or put them back on, either way.
- And if the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Clunie.
