Mobile DPF Cleaning across Cluddley, Shropshire
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the vehicle. A technician turns up at your door in Cluddley, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Allow for the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, settled over the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is showing and the vehicle is low on power, this page is yours. That is how most owners get to us.
The DPF light is on. What next?
First thing: it is not always the filter. A clean is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — several faults register as the same signal.
How the motor is handled in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, car driving normally, just one constant run, no charge.
- Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has gone.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under the throttle, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.
What the car has been warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for weeks. It is late news:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- you see the revs never reach where they used to go
- fuel economy turning worse
- stop/start without a word giving up
- the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Cluddley
Being a rural hamlet, Cluddley throws up just the motoring a DPF copes with the poorest. The school run to St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Holyhead Road at a crawl at the morning rush, ten minutes to Aldi, the run to Wellington (Shropshire) — none of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should clear builds up instead.
Unless you have a standing cause to head out to the M54, under a mile from Cluddley, or out to Wolverhampton under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a sustained run. Geography is unhelpful.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is limited.
Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works up to a limit. The filter needs cleaning rather than driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
The vehicle stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning round Cluddley
Nothing leaves the vehicle. That surprises people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, anywhere it can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, showing soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a look over of sensors, glow plugs and related hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
A cleaning solution after that is injected through the entry point on that car, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Badly blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Cluddley, with you present, or it runs where the vehicle waits and the live data is checked after.
Then a second scan, proving the change, putting out the warning light and noting anything still showing. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
The failures a DPF clean cannot cure
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:
- a pressure sensor showing a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing whatsoever
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. You are let know before the work gets going, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is swapped: the filter you own is treated where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it cut out a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth knowing.
DPF cleaning prices in Cluddley
A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it by phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are known. Whereabouts you are matters as much as what you own: Cluddley itself, Wrockwardine next door, or otherwise out in the TF postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. The call-out charge nonetheless stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have been done.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Cluddley if the light comes back inside the period.
Yes all good at the moment, Dpf cleaned and warning lights off. Engineer was friendly and helpful. Car running well. Thank you for a good service.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Cluddley
The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same trip that has our engineers on Holyhead Road most weeks covers Cluddley, Wrockwardine, Steeraway and the places beyond New Works. Farther out around Shropshire is still worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between this day and the next.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning in Cluddley
- Does a long run sort it?
- Sometimes, if you catch it early and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Aldi and back will not be enough; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit run long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can need cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Cost around Cluddley — what is it?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself opens from £299. The vehicle and your address both change the number, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it needed for me to be present?
- The car needs a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. Preferring to be there is welcome: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
- Can someone come to Cluddley soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the TF area has open.
- The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything work we do either way.
- What if the light comes back?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Cluddley.
