Mobile DPF Cleaning across Clough and Greater Manchester
Cleaning the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. The engineer arrives at your address over in Clough and starts. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the motor, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you keep the filter you came with.
Nobody sets off until the number is settled by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
If the light is showing and the car is short of power, this page is yours. That is how most drivers get to us.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the filter, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. A check happens before all treatment, because that same panel light has plenty of possible faults behind it.
How the car is driven in the meantime matters too.
- Worth a shot before you call anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one steady run, no charge.
- A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
Last news, the light. The symptoms usually build for a while before it arrives:
- power dropping away, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- the fuel consumption is down
- without a word, the stop/start gives up
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration
Alone, none of that is proof. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is showing too.
What chokes diesel particulate filters round Clough
The day-to-day driving that belongs to a residential suburb like Clough is the least kind type for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to East Crompton St George's CofE School, Mount View Road barely moving at half eight, ten minutes to Asda, the run to Rochdale. Unburnt soot that should clear banks up instead.
Neither is far from Clough: under 3 miles to the M62, under 10 miles to Manchester. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter hardly ever happens.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode stops it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode is. A proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
So the common advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it is not. The filter wants cleaning rather than driving once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Clough
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most owners do not expect: the job happens with the DPF yet bolted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a couple of hours.
The ECU is read first, reporting soot load by percentage and by weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are loosened after that, by a cleaning solution put through the entry point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly blocked filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Clough, with you along, or it runs where the car stands and the running data is read afterwards.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
The failures a DPF clean cannot answer
One thing is what cleaning cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a restriction that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. You are warned before all work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is exchanged: the filter you own is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it hollowed out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth noting.
DPF cleaning prices across Clough
The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.
Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We settle it on the phone, once the car and its likely needs are established. What you drive and where you are both move it: Clough itself, over at Nook, or further out within the OL postcode area.
Treatment that will not work is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. What still holds is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was offered.
If the light reappears inside that time, an engineer travels back out to Clough — the work includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
The engineer did a fantastic job friendly and really knew his stuff he went that extra mile to make sure my motor was running smoothly before he left.
very prompt service, very nice chap called dave did the dpf clean, car is now very sorted, cant recommend enough!!
Really positive experience using DPF Fixer. The technicians attended on time and explained the process well. Leaving me with a vehicle health check, diagnostic report and full details of the job carried out. The car runs much better as a result of the DPF clean. Recommended.
Where we travel around Clough, and what we clean
Cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated in place rather than carried anywhere.
The same run that puts our engineers on Mount View Road most weeks covers Clough, Nook, Top o th Knowl and the spots beyond Shaw. It is the calendar, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call still from further out across Greater Manchester.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Clough
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not set in. Five minutes to Asda and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for a stretch, will.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which adds time.
- The cost across Clough — what is it?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the check and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Have I need to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the vehicle simply wants somewhere to sit for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- Can someone come to Clough soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the OL area.
- Does the filter come away from the car?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it sits. We will not get filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- What if the light returns?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Clough.
