Mobile DPF Cleaning in Christon and Somerset
Cleaning the DPF happens at the car, not at a garage. Your car will not be taken off and the filter doesn't leave it. An engineer arrives at your door across Christon, cleans the diesel particulate filter on the vehicle and runs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody leaves until the number is fixed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is on already and the vehicle is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most owners end up here.
DPF light on? What to do
Not the filter, automatically. Opening thing to say. A check comes before any treatment, because that same dashboard light has several possible faults behind it.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, vehicle even now driving as normal — a long even run can even now sort it on its own. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you call anything.
- That window has gone once the car has fallen into limp mode. Motoring will not get there now.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
The car has been telling you already
By the time the light arrives, things have normally been deteriorating for some time. It is belated news:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- worse fuel economy
- the stop/start quietly giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The cause diesel particulate filters clog around Christon
Being a rural hamlet, Christon produces exactly the driving a DPF manages least well. The school run to Banwell Primary School, Banwell Road at a crawl at the morning rush, ten minutes to Manor Stores, the dash to Weston Milton — not one bit of it runs long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. What should burn away stays behind.
Neither is a long way from Christon: under a mile to the M5, under 15 miles to Wells. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter never gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
The car is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. Pulling power is limited, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer run — which is the whole problem, because a sustained drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands right up to a limit. The filter requires cleaning rather than more driving once the motor has slipped into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle across Christon
The filter does not budge. That is the part most people do not expect: the job is done with the DPF even now fitted to the motor, on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a couple of hours.
The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by proportion and by mass, along with a review of sensors, glow plugs and related components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
Then the treatment. A solution is fed in through the access port on that car and spreads inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. Where the filter is badly blocked, plan on a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Christon; if not, in place where the motor stands, with the real-time data read after.
Finally the scan runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still open logged. Both read-outs reach you by email, so the numbers are on record.
When a DPF clean is not the answer
Only one fault is fixed by treatment: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, flagging a block that is not real
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- the AdBlue system playing up
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. If it is found to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have paid anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is treated in place and goes back into service.
DPF cleaning costs across Christon
Every visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, running the scan and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
The figure is fixed over the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be straight. The place you are tells as much as what you drive: Christon itself, Yarberry next door, or further out across the BS postcode area.
You are not charged for treatment that the scan says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge still applies.
If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer comes back out to Christon — the clean comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Nic turned up ran through everything, explained very well and carried out the job professionally, very very pleased with what he has done and really nice chap to talk too of if I need anything else I'll 100% be in touch thanks to him. John.
Jim who came out to me on site, nice guy pleasure to deal with very helpful. checked out my truck reset the computer and away we went no dash lights currently.
The engineer did a fantastic job, quickly fixed the issue and provided an outstanding service i would highly recommend him.
Vehicles we clean, and where we get to near Christon
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the same call-out service applies, and the filter never departs it.
Nearly every week there is usually someone on Banwell Road, so Christon hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Yarberry, Whitley Head and the places past Elborough come with it. Farther out through Somerset is still worth a call — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

Questions Christon drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- It might, provided you catch it in time and limp mode has not begun. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not five minutes flat to Manor Stores and back.
- About how long does it last?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — heavily loaded filters sometimes take a second pass, which lengthens it.
- Price across Christon — what is it?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; the clean itself begins from £299. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both move the number.
- Have I have to be present?
- No. The car requires space to sit for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would sooner ride along.
- Can someone travel to Christon soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is free across the BS area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- It is treated where it is, on the mobile service. We do not take filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
- What if the light reappears?
- The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Christon.
