Mobile DPF Cleaning around Chancery, Ceredigion
The vehicle remains in place — call-out DPF cleaning travels to it. A fitter arrives at your address over in Chancery, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is agreed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and roughly what this page is about.
Your DPF light is lit — what next?
The DPF is not automatically what is to blame, and that goes first. Plenty of faults put the very same light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit opens with a check rather than with a clean.
The motoring you do in the meantime tells. That is the next thing.
- Car still driving fine on an amber light — try a long steady run first. It costs nothing and often shifts the filter without help.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not touch it now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the vehicle has been telling you
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been mounting for weeks:
- pulling uphill, the power falls off
- you find the revs stop short of where they used to go
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- the stop/start silently packing in
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
On its own, none of that is proof. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.
Clogged diesel particulate filters round Chancery, and the cause
Chancery is a rural hamlet, and the driving that belongs to one is the poorest sort for a DPF. None of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, Lôn Rhydygwn crawling at the morning rush, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the run to Aberystwyth. Instead of burning off, the soot load builds up.
Where you sit does not oblige either. The M4 is under 50 miles from Chancery and Swansea is over 50 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way routinely, entire weeks pass without the long unbroken run that could scour the filter on its own.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it
What limp mode amounts to is the car defending itself. With power capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants cannot complete at all. That tells, because starting one is precisely what a motorway run does.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. In limp mode you are past that line: cleaning is what will work, not more road work.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Chancery
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most drivers do not expect: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a few hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are loosened second, by a cleaning solution put through the entry point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.
A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Chancery; if not, in place where the car stands, with the running data checked after.
Finally the scan runs again — the change verified, the light put out, anything still open logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not touch:
- the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- AdBlue system problems
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
Which is why the diagnostic goes first. You are told before all work gets going, not after you have settled up, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth noting. Leaving the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is treated in place and put back into use.
The figure for DPF cleaning across Chancery
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.
Once we know what you run, and roughly what the filter will need, the number gets settled on the phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. What you drive and where you are both move it: Chancery itself, over at Llanfarian, or otherwise out within the SY postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not charged for a clean. What still applies is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was done and the advice was given.
The clean comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Chancery if the light returns inside that period.
Zoltan arrived as expected and got on with job, no time wasting. Whatever he did has worked and the fault has been rectified. A nice young man a credit to your company.

First class service. Engineer was excellent. Friendly and informative. He supplied me with an email containing all the readings he had completed. Very impressive. Would use your company again. Well satisfied. Thanks.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round Chancery
Private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery — a single on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Week in week out there is already someone on Lôn Rhydygwn, so Chancery seldom means a journey of its own, and Llanfarian, Caeffynnon and the villages past Pont Lanio come with it. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so call still from even further out around Ceredigion.

What Chancery drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- Sometimes, if you get it early enough and the car has not fallen into limp mode. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- About how long does it last?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely blocked.
- The cost around Chancery — what is it?
- Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the scan and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- The vehicle requires a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Chancery?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the SY area.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- It is done where it is, on the mobile service. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
- And if the light returns?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Chancery.
