- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the car smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
The car has been warning you already
Symptoms have generally been building for some time before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:
- climbing uphill, the power tails off
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- the stop/start silently packing in
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration
On its own, none of that is proof. The light alongside them suggests a blocked filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Carty Port
