Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Carnteel, County Tyrone

Sorting the DPF is done at the vehicle, not at a body shop. The technician pulls up at your address over in Carnteel and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is treated on the car, a DPF regeneration follows, and you keep the filter you arrived with.

You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

Most people find us with the light already on, and the vehicle low on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

The DPF light is on. What then?

First thing: it is not always the unit. A clean is not where a visit starts. A check is — plenty of faults show up as the same warning.

It matters what you manage with the vehicle between now and the appointment.

  • Amber light, motor still driving fine — a long steady run can yet shift it on its own. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you call anything.
  • Once the car is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has closed.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop arranging long drives and call.

What the vehicle has been warning you

The light is last news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been growing for some time:

  • pulling uphill, the power tails off
  • you notice the revs fall short of where they once went
  • fuel use that is worse than it was
  • the stop/start without a word packing in
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox

By itself, none of that is proof. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is showing too.

Why diesel particulate filters block near Carnteel

The day-to-day driving that belongs to a small village like Carnteel is the poorest type for a DPF. The school run to the local primary school, Heugh Road at a halt at half past eight, ten minutes to the local shops, the hop to the nearest station — nothing of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should clear collects instead.

Geography does not help either. The M77 is over 50 miles from Carnteel and Armagh is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, weeks slip past without the sustained run that could scour the filter by itself.

DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it

What limp mode comes down to is the car defending itself. Power is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter wants can not complete — which is the real problem, because a long drive works by starting that regeneration.

The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — driving will not manage it, and the filter requires cleaning.

The clogged filter treated after a warning light in Carnteel, County Tyrone

Where the motor stands is where the DPF is treated round Carnteel

On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the car can sit for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter still fixed on, which is the part most people do not see coming.

Nothing is touched until other faults are ruled out. That involves a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by actual weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and connected parts.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are lifted second, by a cleaning solution fed through the access port on that car, which expands inside the filter. Where the filter is severely loaded, plan on a second pass.

Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Carnteel if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car stands, with the live data read afterwards.

A second check proves the change, puts out the warning light and lists anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Only one fault is fixed by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does little for:

  • sensors, pressure, reporting a block that is not real
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • an AdBlue system fault
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
  • oil working through the filter from a failing turbo

Which is why the diagnostic goes first. Where it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have handed over for it.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no remedy. What gets looked up as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.

Costs for DPF cleaning across Carnteel

Any visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, taking the booking, doing the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.

Once we have what you run, and roughly what the filter will want, the number gets fixed over phone. A single price for all would not be honest. Two separate things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Carnteel itself, over at Eglish, or further out across the BT postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says treatment will not help, you are not charged for cleaning. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, carried out the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.

If the light returns inside that time, an engineer comes back out to Carnteel — the work includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

The vehicles we clean and the ground we cover round Carnteel

One on-site service spans cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is cleaned where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

Week in week out there is already someone on Heugh Road, so Carnteel rarely means a special trip, and Eglish, Granville and the villages past Coalisland come with it. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so further out across County Tyrone is even so worth a call, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Usual questions on DPF cleaning around Carnteel

Will a long drive sort it?
Sometimes, if you catch it early and the motor has not slipped into limp mode. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not fifteen minutes to the local shops and back.
Does the visit last long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly clogged.
Across Carnteel, what does it cost?
A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both shift the price.
Must I be present in person?
No. The car wants a spot to sit for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
When can someone get to Carnteel?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is free across the BT area.
Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is treated in place. Getting a filter off or bolting one back on come to anything work we do either way.
And if the light reappears?
An engineer travels back out to Carnteel — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
