Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Carbost, Highland

On-site DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. The fitter pulls up at your address over in Carbost and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration follows, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the number is settled on the phone before anyone leaves.

Written for the position most owners are in: the light on already, the motor short for power, and the clean still to book.

DPF light on? What to do

Not the filter, automatically. Main thing to note. A number of faults put the identical light on the identical dashboard, which is why a visit starts with a scan rather than with cleaning.

Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.

  • A long even run may yet manage it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle goes as normal. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before calling.
  • Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
  • Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it checked.

The vehicle has been telling you already

The light is late news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have generally been mounting for a while:

  • less power, especially pulling uphill
  • you find the revs stop short of where they used to go
  • consumption that is worse than it was
  • a stop/start that has meekly given up
  • diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the box

On its own, none of that is conclusive. The light alongside them points at a full filter.

What chokes diesel particulate filters near Carbost

The driving that goes with a coastal area like Carbost is the worst sort for a DPF. None of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, B8009 standing at half past eight, ten minutes to the local shops, the hop to the nearest station. Instead of clearing, the soot banks up.

Neither is distant from Carbost: over 50 miles to the M8, over 50 miles to Inverness. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter simply never comes.

The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run

The car is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. With output capped and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants cannot happen at all. That counts, because triggering one is precisely what a sustained run does.

Sound advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. Past that line — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter needs cleaning.

The clogged filter treated after a warning light in Carbost, Highland

DPF cleaning at the car in Carbost

On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can stand for a while: the job takes place with the filter still fitted on, which is the bit most drivers do not see coming.

First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it read before anything is touched.

A cleaning solution then is injected through the access point on that vehicle, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly clogged filters.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Carbost if you are there, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the running data checked afterwards.

Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second check is what proves the change, clears the light and notes whatever is still showing.

The faults a DPF clean cannot cure

Only one fault is answered by cleaning: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • pressure sensors showing a restriction that is not there
  • an EGR valve held open
  • the AdBlue system going wrong
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
  • oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. You are warned before the work gets going, not after you have paid, if it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.

Costs for DPF cleaning around Carbost

The clean begins from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that follows.

Once we are told what you own, and about what the filter will want, the price gets settled by phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. The motor moves it, and so does the address — Carbost, Carbostmore, or anywhere further out in the IV postcode area.

If the scan writes a clean out, there is no charge to pay for it. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the diagnostic and offered you the advice.

A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Carbost if the light comes back inside the time.

Excellent service today, thanks. I was able to track my engineer, Zoltan, before he arrived at the job. He was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. He knew exactly what needed to be done and made the whole process easy. Would definitely recommend Zoltan and DPF fixer, thanks.

Arrived quickly after my call and cleared the filter quickly. I was showed the results and advised what to do next. Overall very pleased just hope the problem doesn't return any time soon.

Martin H.

The service was great. I book for my dpf system to be cleaned and it was done the following day at home. Great work by Liamf along with post service status and maintenance advice.

What we clean, and how far we travel around Carbost

The filter is done where it sits on all of them: private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Most weeks there is by then someone on B8009, so Carbost seldom means a special trip, and Carbostmore, Fernilea and the spots past Portnalong are on the way. It is the diary, not the distance, that picks whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call even from even further out around Highland.

Things Carbost drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?
Sometimes, if you get it in time and the car has not slipped into limp mode. Five minutes to the local shops and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
How long does the visit last?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which takes longer.
Around Carbost, what does it come to?
The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting is done by phone.
Have I got to be around?
The motor needs a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
Can someone get to Carbost soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the schedule. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the IV area.
Does the filter leave the motor?
It is cleaned where it is, on the call-out service. Taking a filter off or putting one back on amount to anything something we do whichever way.
What if the light returns?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Carbost.
