Signs the motor has been giving you
Symptoms have usually been growing for a while before the light even arrives. Last news, in other words:
- power tailing off, above all pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- fuel consumption getting worse
- without a word, the stop/start bows out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration
By itself, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Buxted
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the sort you find in a village such as Buxted. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your original filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
