The car has been warning you already
Last news, the light. The symptoms usually grow for some time before it appears:
- power tailing off, particularly pulling uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as before
- the fuel use is poorer
- the stop/start without a word packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not evidence by itself. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.
