Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you
Symptoms have usually been building for weeks before the light so much as arrives. Last news, in other words:
- power dropping away, particularly pulling uphill
- you see the revs never reach where they once went
- consumption that is worse than before
- stop/start without a word packing in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell inside
None of that is evidence on its own. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters block round Burnbrae
