Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Bunwell, Norfolk

On-site DPF cleaning travels to the motor. A technician arrives at your place over in Bunwell, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

You'll be given a price by phone before anyone leaves, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

If the light is on already and the car is down on power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners arrive here.

Your DPF light is on — what now?

It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the opening thing. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A scan is — a number of faults register as the same signal.

The use you get in the meantime counts. That is the other thing.

  • Worth a try before you call anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one steady run, no outlay.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already shut.
  • Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the cabin reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

The vehicle has been showing you already

By the time the light arrives, things have normally been going wrong for some time. It is belated news:

  • power dropping away, above all going uphill
  • you see the revs fall short of where they used to go
  • worse fuel economy
  • quietly, the stop/start bows out
  • a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under acceleration

On its own, none of that is proof. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.

The reason diesel particulate filters block near Bunwell

Bunwell is a rural village, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. Run through a normal week: Bunwell Primary School and home again, North Road at a halt before half nine, a short hop to Lidl, a run to Spooner Row. Not much there goes on long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.

The M11 lies under 50 miles from Bunwell, Norwich under 15 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, full weeks pass without the sustained run that scours a filter. Geography does not assist.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. A proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs pinned, no regeneration on offer.

Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands right up to a point. The filter wants cleaning rather than more driving once the car has gone into limp mode.

Call-out DPF cleaning where the car stands round Bunwell

The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF even now fitted to the motor, on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a few hours.

First a scan. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the related parts — all of it read before a thing is started.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never move are loosened after that, by a solution put through the access point on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. Severely loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.

A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has freed. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Bunwell, with you there, or it is done where the motor stands and the live data is read after.

Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second scan is what verifies the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still outstanding.

The problems a DPF clean cannot cure

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment answers. It will not reach:

  • sensors, pressure, flagging a block that is not real
  • a stuck-open EGR valve
  • the AdBlue system playing up
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
  • turbo failure, with oil getting into the filter

Finding that out is the first check's purpose. If one of those is the fault, you hear about it in advance rather than once the money has left for good.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a working DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people look up, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is treated in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.

The figure for DPF cleaning in Bunwell

A call-out charge applies whatever the outcome, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself opens from £299.

The price is fixed on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be straight. Two separate things change it: what you run, and where you are — Bunwell itself, over at Great Green, or further out in the NR postcode area.

Treatment that will not work is not cleaning you pay for, and the check is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so holds.

The job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Bunwell if the light reappears inside that window.

Nic turned up ran through everything, explained very well and carried out the job professionally, very very pleased with what he has done and really nice chap to talk too of if I need anything else I'll 100% be in touch thanks to him. John.

John S.

Good job done by Daz. Blocked DPF sorted and car now runs normal, next day service too so well pleased.

Clive S.

Fast, efficient and friendly service. Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than the alternative of fitting a new DPF! Thanks.

What we clean, and how far we reach around Bunwell

Cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

Most weeks there is already someone on North Road, so Bunwell hardly ever means a special trip, and Great Green, Flaxlands and the villages past Carleton Rode are on the way. Call anyway from even further out across Norfolk. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the slot you are given comes down to the schedule rather than how far away you are.

Things Bunwell drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
If you catch it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Lidl and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
The visit lasts how long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can need a second clean, which adds to that.
Around Bunwell, what does it come to?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that pays for the scan and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we quote on the phone.
Is it needed for me to be around?
The motor wants a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
How soon can someone travel to Bunwell?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the calendar. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the NR area has open.
Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
Not on the on-site service — it is treated where it sits. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
And if the light comes back?
An engineer travels back out to Bunwell — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
