Mobile DPF Cleaning across Broallan and Highland

The vehicle sits in place — mobile DPF cleaning travels to it. The fitter arrives at your door over in Broallan and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you keep the filter you arrived with.

Reckon on the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, settled over the phone before anyone travels.

The light is on already and the motor is low on power — that is how we normally come across people, and what this page deals with.

What to do when the DPF light is on

First thing: it is not automatically the unit. That light can come from a number of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a scan and not with cleaning.

How the car is run in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • A long constant run may still do it, provided the light is amber and the motor drives fine. Costs nothing, so try that before ringing.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
  • Stop planning long drives and get it seen to if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.

Before the light, what the car was telling you

Symptoms have usually been mounting for a while before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:

  • dropping away on power, above all uphill
  • you notice the revs stop short of where they used to go
  • the fuel economy is poorer
  • the stop/start quietly packing in
  • the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

That is not conclusive by itself. The light with them indicates a loaded filter.

The reason diesel particulate filters clog around Broallan

Broallan is an area, and the motoring that comes with one is the least kind sort for a DPF. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on A831 at half eight, not on a few minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the hop to Beauly. What should burn away stays put.

Except when you have a standing cause to get out to the M90, over 50 miles from Broallan, or out to Inverness under 15 miles away, whole weeks go by without a long steady drive. Geography is unhelpful.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. The real difficulty is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is capped.

Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands as far as a line. The far side of that stage — limp mode — road work will not manage it, and the filter requires cleaning.

On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Broallan

Most people do not anticipate this detail: the filter stays put. The job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a couple of hours.

The ECU is interrogated first, reporting soot load by proportion and by weight, along with a review of sensors, glow plugs and associated parts, so nothing is started while another fault is still in play.

After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration cannot. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to need doing twice.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Broallan; if not, statically where the car waits, with the real-time data verified afterwards.

Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • pressure sensors showing a block that is not there
  • an EGR valve held open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting whatsoever
  • oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo

The first diagnostic is there for exactly that. Where one of those proves the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands altogether.

Two more worth noting. Leaving the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is cleared in place and returned into use.

The figure for DPF cleaning across Broallan

Treatment opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.

The price is fixed over the phone, once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be truthful. Two separate things change it: what you own, and where you are — Broallan itself, over at Ruisaurie, or farther out within the IV postcode area.

You are not charged for a clean that the diagnostic says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so stands.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Broallan if the light reappears inside the window.

A vehicle having its DPF treated across Broallan

Arrived at my address and carried out all work needed in a very professional manner, informing me at every stage what he was doing, he respected my property and vehicle all the way through, would highly recommended this employee and this company, kind regards Alan and Susan Rhodes.

Susan R.

Very honest, friendly and straight forward company and engineer (Attilla). He ran a diagnostic check and said that they could try cleaning it out but it would probably block again within a few weeks. Hence I was very happy to have only paid the £150.

Graham P.

Nat arrived from the company on time, was polite and explained what he was doing then just got on with it. Very efficient and well worth every penny. Nat should get a medal. Car is running fine now.

Where we get to round Broallan, and what we clean

Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same call-out service applies, and the filter never departs it.

Our engineers are along A831 nearly every week, so Broallan is hardly ever a detour, and the same run takes in Ruisaurie, Farley and the villages out past Wester Balblair. Even further out across Highland is still worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that decides between today and tomorrow.

What Broallan drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough alone?
Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That calls for motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
Roughly how long does it take?
Expect typically around 2 hours — severely loaded filters sometimes need a second pass, which adds to it.
How much does it cost across Broallan?
It opens from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the scan and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both move the number.
Must I be present in person?
Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car just needs a spot to sit for a couple of hours. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
How soon can someone travel to Broallan?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the IV area.
The filter — does it leave the car?
Treated where it sits, on this service, so no. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
An engineer heads back out to Broallan — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
