Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning for Brittens, Somerset

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the vehicle. No body shop, no filter leaving. An engineer comes to your place over in Brittens, treats the diesel particulate filter as it sits, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.

The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the price is fixed on the phone before anyone leaves.

Written for the state most owners are in: the light showing, the motor starved for power, and the job still to fix.

Your DPF light is lit — what now?

Not the DPF, automatically. Main thing to note. That light can come from a number of faults, not only one, so the visit begins with a check and not with cleaning.

The motoring you do in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.

  • Amber light, vehicle still driving as normal — a long steady run can even now shift it alone. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you ring anything.
  • Motor already dropped into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not reach it now.
  • Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.

Before the light, what the car was showing you

Symptoms have usually been building for weeks before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:

  • dropping away on power, particularly uphill
  • you see the revs never reach where they once went
  • consumption that is worse than before
  • a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
  • the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

On its own, none of that is proof. The light beside them points at a full filter.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Brittens

For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the sort you meet around a small village such as Brittens. The school run to Paulton Infant School, Simon's Close at a halt at the morning rush, ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, the run to Oldfield Park — not one bit of it goes on long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the soot collects.

Unless you have a standing reason to head out to the M32, under 15 miles from Brittens, or over to Bath under 10 miles away, weeks go by without a long unbroken drive. Geography is unhelpful.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

Limp mode is the car looking after itself. The entire catch is that a proper drive works by triggering a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.

Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it holds up to a limit. The filter needs cleaning rather than more driving once the car has dropped into limp mode.

Mobile DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in Brittens

The filter does not budge. That is the detail most drivers do not anticipate: the job takes place with the DPF even now fixed to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours.

First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it read before anything is started.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are lifted second, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that vehicle, which opens out inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes required on heavily loaded filters.

Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Brittens; if not, statically where the motor sits, with the real-time data checked once done.

Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what confirms the change, puts out the light and notes whatever is still open.

Where cleaning is not the answer

Cleaning cures one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
  • the turbo putting oil into the filter

The first scan is there for exactly that. Where one of those proves the fault, you hear about it in advance rather than once the money has gone for good.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your filter is cleared in place and goes back into service.

What DPF cleaning runs to across Brittens

A call-out charge stands whatever the outcome, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice offered. Cleaning itself opens from £299.

Once we know what you own, and broadly what the filter will take, the price gets fixed by phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. What you run and where you are both move it: Brittens itself, across at Winterfield, or further out in the BS postcode area.

Treatment that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the scan is what says so. What nonetheless applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the check was carried out and the advice was passed on.

The clean comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Brittens if the light comes back inside that window.

Excellent service from Daz Burrows from DPF fixer. Very thorough and care taken to give a full and clear explanation of any problems. Definitely worth the cost for giving me peace of mind.

Liam the DPF technician really did a good job, my Audi a6 had limited power and after cleaning and changing sensors it was perfect.

Where we get to around Brittens, and what we clean

Whatever it is — private car, van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the very same call-out service applies, and the filter never quits it.

Nearly every week there is by then someone on Simon's Close, so Brittens rarely means a special trip, and Winterfield, Upper Radford and the villages past Paulton come with it. Call anyway from even further out around Somerset. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are given hangs on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Things Brittens drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
If you spot it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes flat to The Co-operative Food and back.
Does the visit take long?
Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is severely loaded.
Across Brittens, what does it come to?
Opening from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why pricing happens by phone.
Do I have to be present?
Space for the motor to sit, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration is done as a watched drive.
Getting to Brittens — how soon?
You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the BS area.
Is the filter taken off the vehicle?
Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it stands. And neither does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
The light returns — then what?
An engineer comes back out to Brittens — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
