Mobile DPF Cleaning around Braddock and Cornwall

With mobile DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A technician comes to your place over in Braddock, cleans the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.

Most owners find us with the light on already, and the motor down on power. That is the situation this page is written for.

DPF light on? What happens next

First thing: it is not necessarily the unit. A number of faults put the identical light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with treatment.

Second thing: how you handle it between now and then makes a difference.

  • A long constant run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor drives fine. Costs nothing, so attempt that before booking.
  • Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not shift it. The window has closed.
  • Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you

Symptoms have normally been mounting for a while before the light ever arrives. Belated news, in other words:

  • going uphill, the power falls off
  • you find the revs never reach where they once went
  • economy that is worse than it was
  • the stop/start silently bowing out
  • the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

On its own, none of that is evidence. Next to the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.

What clogs diesel particulate filters around Braddock

The driving that belongs to an area like Braddock is the least kind type for a DPF. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Braddock CofE Primary School, not on B3359 at half past eight, not on ten minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the run to Bodmin Parkway. The soot that should clear banks up instead.

Neither is a long way from Braddock: under 50 miles to the M5, under 25 miles to Plymouth. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter never comes.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.

Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. The far side of that line — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter wants treatment.

On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across Braddock

On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can wait for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter even now fitted on, which is the detail most people do not expect.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are cleared. That requires a diagnostic first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are freed after that, by a cleaning fluid fed through the entry point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Severely loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Braddock, with you present, or it is done where the vehicle stands and the running data is checked once done.

Then a second scan, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still outstanding. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • temperature or pressure sensors reporting a block that is not there
  • a jammed EGR valve
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • a regeneration that simply never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

That is what the first diagnostic is for. When one of those turns out to be the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has left for good.

Two more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.

Prices for DPF cleaning in Braddock

A call-out charge stands whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice passed on. Treatment itself begins from £299.

Once we have what you drive, and broadly what the filter will take, the price gets settled over phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you run: Braddock itself, Trewindle nearby, or further out within the PL postcode area.

Where the scan says a clean will not do it, you are not billed for a clean. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge nonetheless applies.

The work comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Braddock if the light reappears inside that window.

The vehicles we clean and the ground we reach around Braddock

A single call-out service spans cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is done where it sits rather than carried anywhere.

Nearly every week there is already someone on B3359, so Braddock rarely means a special trip, and Trewindle, East Taphouse and the spots past Trevelmond follow. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so farther out around Cornwall is still worth a ring, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

The ground around Braddock

Braddock is a small locality in inland Cornwall, situated at an elevation of 162 metres, and is characterised by its predominantly detached housing. Braddock is located near several nearby places, including Middle Taphouse, West Taphouse, and Trewindle, and is approximately 20 miles from Plymouth. Braddock has a small population of around 134 residents and is a relatively rural area, set in the rolling countryside of Cornwall. Braddock is also some distance from major urban centres, with London being around 208 miles away.

Things Braddock drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough by itself?
Soon enough, and with the motor out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a short trip to Co-op Food.
Roughly how long does it take?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily blocked filter can require a second clean, which adds to that.
What does it run to across Braddock?
It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the price, so we quote on the phone.
Must I be there in person?
The vehicle requires a spot for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. The regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive if you would prefer to come along.
Coming to Braddock — how soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the PL area has open.
The filter — does it leave the car?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We will not lift filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
The light returns — then what?
An engineer comes back out to Braddock — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
