Mobile DPF Cleaning around Bradden and Northamptonshire

With call-out DPF cleaning, we come to the car. The engineer arrives at your address in Bradden and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is treated still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you keep the filter you started with.

The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is agreed on the phone before anyone leaves.

If the light is showing and the car is short of power, this page is for you. That is how most drivers end up here.

DPF light on? What to do

First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A clean is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same light.

It matters what you manage with the motor between now and the visit.

  • A long even run may even now do it, provided the light is amber and the car drives normally. Costs zero, so have a go at that before ringing.
  • That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop planning long drives and call.

Signs the motor has been showing you

The light is belated news. By the time it arrives, the symptoms have normally been growing for some time:

  • power falling off, especially climbing uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not climb as before
  • worse fuel economy
  • stop/start quietly bowing out
  • a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under the throttle

None of that is evidence by itself. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair guess.

Why diesel particulate filters choke near Bradden

For a DPF, the worst driving is the kind you find in a rural village such as Bradden. The school run to Blakesley Church of England Primary School, Lower End at a standstill at half eight, a few minutes to Aldi, the dash to Northampton — none of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn off collects instead.

Neither is a long way from Bradden: under 10 miles to the M1, under 15 miles to Milton Keynes. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter simply never comes.

DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode stops it

What limp mode means is the motor looking after itself. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power held down, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.

So the usual advice to take it up the motorway is sound advice, right until it stops being. The filter needs treatment rather than road work once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.

DPF cleaning for a blocked filter in Bradden, Northamptonshire

DPF cleaning at the car round Bradden

The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours.

First a scan. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensors, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it taken before a thing is started.

A cleaning solution next is injected through the entry point on that motor, expanding inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to take doing twice.

A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has freed. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Bradden, with you there, or it is done where the motor sits and the live data is read afterwards.

Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still outstanding written down. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the solution

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a block that is not there
  • the EGR valve jammed open
  • a fault in the AdBlue system
  • failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
  • oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

Which is why the scan comes first. If it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work begins rather than after you have paid a penny.

A couple more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.

The price of DPF cleaning in Bradden

A call-out charge holds whatever follows, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself starts from £299.

Once we are told what you own, and roughly what the filter will want, the number gets fixed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. The motor moves it, and so does the location — Bradden, Foscote, or anywhere further out in the NN postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says treatment will not help, you are not billed for a clean. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place.

A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Bradden if the light reappears inside the time.

DPF cleaning carried out at a vehicle in Bradden

Nic did a great job, car is running as it should again after going into limp mode because of a dirty Dpf. Very polite and professional service.

Peter L.

Fast, efficient and friendly service. Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than the alternative of fitting a new DPF! Thanks.

David S.

The technician who came to clean the dpf did a great job, the clean didn't cure the problem but did put me in the right direction with the issue. Would recommend but hopefully won't need them again. Vehicle was a MAN tgl 8/150.

The vehicles we clean and the area we take in near Bradden

The filter is treated in place on all of them: private cars, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is carried anywhere.

The same round that puts engineers on Lower End most weeks picks up Bradden, Foscote, Blakesley and the places beyond Slapton. It is the calendar, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so ring even from even further out through Northamptonshire.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Bradden

Will a long drive shift it?
It can, provided you catch it early enough and limp mode has not begun. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Aldi and back.
Does the visit take long?
Expect typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
How much does it run to around Bradden?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why settling it goes by phone.
Is it essential for me to be present?
No. The vehicle needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. The regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive if you would rather be there.
Can someone come to Bradden soon?
That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is available across the NN area.
Does the filter come away from the motor?
Cleaned where it is, on this service, so no. We never get filters off or bolt them back on, in either direction.
Suppose the light comes back?
The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer heading back to Bradden.
