Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Bobblestock, Herefordshire
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the motor. No workshop, no filter leaving. A fitter comes to your address across Bobblestock, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the figure is agreed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
Written for the situation most drivers are in: the light showing, the car starved for power, and the visit still to fix.
DPF light on? What happens next
First thing: it is not necessarily the DPF. Treatment is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — several faults show up as the same warning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.
- Amber light, motor even now driving as normal — a long constant run can still clear it on its own. Costs zero, and worth a try before you ring anything.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then closed.
- Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Signs the motor has been showing you
The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have generally been growing for a while:
- less power, particularly pulling uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they used to
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start quietly giving up
- the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not evidence alone. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair guess.
The reason diesel particulate filters block near Bobblestock
For a DPF, the poorest use is the type you find in a residential suburb such as Bobblestock. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Trinity Primary School, not on Cumberland Place at the morning rush, not on five minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the run to Hereford. Instead of burning off, the soot load collects.
Save when you have a standing need to head out to the M50, under 15 miles from Bobblestock, or out to Hereford under 3 miles away, whole weeks pass without a sustained run. Geography is unhelpful.
DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the motor defending itself. With pulling power held down and the revs held, the regeneration the filter needs cannot happen at all. That tells, because triggering one is just what a long run does.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is good, until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that point, and the filter requires cleaning rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Bobblestock
The filter does not leave it. That is the part most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still fitted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a while.
First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it read before anything is touched.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never move are lifted second, by a cleaning fluid put through the access port on that car, which opens out inside the filter. Badly blocked filters sometimes take a second pass.
Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean lifted. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Bobblestock, with you along, or it goes where the car stands and the running data is verified afterwards.
A second diagnostic proves the change, resets the warning light and lists anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures on record.
What a DPF clean will not fix
A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing treatment fixes. It will not help:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a blockage that is not real
- a jammed EGR valve
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. Turning out to be one of them means hearing it before the work begins, not after settling up a penny.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it gutted a remedy, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth noting.
Figures for DPF cleaning across Bobblestock
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it on the phone, once the motor and its probable needs are established. Two separate things move it: what you drive, and where you are — Bobblestock itself, over at White Cross, or further out across the HR postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the check says will not help. You still pay that charge: someone came out, carried out the check and offered you the advice.
The work includes a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Bobblestock if the light reappears inside that period.
Thank you Nic, you have done a great job for me today. DPF cleaned and all warning lights cleared, drives like new.

What Bobblestock drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- It might, provided you catch it early enough and limp mode has not begun. It takes a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- The visit runs how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- What does it cost around Bobblestock?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the check and the advice. Settling it is done by phone, since what you own and where you live both move the figure.
- Have I have to be around?
- The vehicle wants a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a watched drive.
- Can someone come to Bobblestock soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the diary. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the HR area has free.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- Not on the mobile service — it is done where it is. We never take filters off or bolt them back on, either way.
- What if the light comes back?
- An engineer comes back out to Bobblestock — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
