Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Boath, Highland
With mobile DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. A fitter arrives at your place across Boath, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is agreed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is showing and the car is low on power, this page is the right one. That is how most people get to us.
Your DPF light is showing — what then?
It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the opening thing. A clean is not where a visit opens. A check is — plenty of faults show up as the same signal.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.
- Motor still driving fine on an amber light — try a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly shifts the filter without a visit.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, a long run will not shift it. The window has closed.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.
What the motor has been warning you
By the time the light appears, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is belated news:
- climbing uphill, the power falls off
- revs that will not rise the way they used to
- fuel economy going worse
- a stop/start that has meekly packed in
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration
That is not proof alone. The light beside them suggests a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Boath
Being an area, Boath produces exactly the motoring a DPF manages worst. The school run to the local primary school, Strath Rusdale Road at a crawl at half eight, a few minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Alness — nothing of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration. The soot collects rather than burning off.
Neither is a long way from Boath: over 50 miles to the M90, under 25 miles to Inverness. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would empty a filter hardly ever gets made.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode means. The entire catch is that a long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.
Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands up to a point. The filter wants treatment rather than more driving once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Boath
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That surprises people. The DPF remains fixed where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, anywhere it can wait for a couple of hours.
First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it logged before any of it is touched.
Then the treatment. A cleaning fluid is injected through the access point on that motor and spreads inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Boath, with you there, or it runs where the vehicle stands and the live data is verified after.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change verified, the light cleared, anything still showing noted. Both sets of figures reach you by email, so the numbers are on record.
Where a clean is not the answer
A clean answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- oil working through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. When it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up a penny.
Two more worth knowing. Leaving the filter hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
The price for DPF cleaning across Boath
Any visit takes a call-out charge — coming out to you, setting up the booking, doing the check and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
The price is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be straight. Two separate things shift it: what you own, and where you are — Boath itself, out at Cnoc Ruadh, or farther out across the IV postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says cleaning will not help, you are not asked to pay for cleaning. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Boath if the light reappears inside the window.

What we clean, and how far we travel around Boath
The one on-site service spans private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
The same round that has engineers on Strath Rusdale Road most weeks takes in Boath, Cnoc Ruadh, Loanreoch and the villages beyond Ardross. Ring anyway from farther out across Highland. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the slot you get hangs on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

What Boath drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early enough and the vehicle has not dropped into limp mode. It wants a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
- Roughly how long does it run?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
- In Boath, what does it run to?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Quoting is done by phone, since what you drive and where you live both change the price.
- Have I need to be there?
- The vehicle needs a space for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
- Travelling to Boath — how soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the IV area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. We never lift filters off or fit them back on, either way.
- The light returns — then what?
- An engineer travels back out to Boath — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
