Bluetown, Kent: Mobile DPF Cleaning
The vehicle remains in place — on-site DPF cleaning goes to it. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter comes to your place in Bluetown, treats the diesel particulate filter where it is, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you started with.
Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone sets off.
Most people find us with the light on already, and the vehicle short of power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What now?
It could not be the DPF in the end. That is the opening thing. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
It matters what you do with the car between now and the visit.
- A long steady run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the car runs normally. Costs zero, so have a go at that before ringing.
- That window has closed once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and book it in.
Before the light, what the motor was showing you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for a while before it appears:
- power tailing off, particularly going uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
None of that is conclusive alone. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Bluetown
For a DPF, the least kind use is the kind you meet across a rural hamlet such as Bluetown. Nothing of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, Down Court Road standing at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Sittingbourne. What should burn away remains.
The M2 stands under a mile from Bluetown, Canterbury under 15 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way routinely, entire weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that empties a filter. Geography does not assist.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode stops it
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode is. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can not happen — which is the whole difficulty, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.
So the usual advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it stops being. In limp mode you are past that point: treatment is what will work, not more driving.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Bluetown
Nothing leaves the car. That throws people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, wherever it can stand for a few hours.
A diagnostic goes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related parts, so other faults are ruled out before any of it is touched.
Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to require doing twice.
A regeneration comes next, driving off what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is run as a monitored drive out of Bluetown; if not, in place where the car stands, with the live data verified afterwards.
Then a second scan, proving the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are kept.
What a DPF clean will not touch
One thing is what a clean answers — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- a problem in the AdBlue system
- injectors or glow plugs that stop a regeneration starting whatsoever
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. Turning out to be one of them means hearing it before the work starts, not after handing over for it.
Hollowing the filter out is not a remedy: without a working DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is swapped — your original filter is treated in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.
Costs for DPF cleaning in Bluetown
The clean begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that comes with it.
Once we are told what you run, and roughly what the filter will need, the number gets fixed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be straight. What you own and where you are both change it: Bluetown itself, over at Milstead, or otherwise out in the ME postcode area.
If the scan rules treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, carried out the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
The job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Bluetown if the light comes back inside that period.
DPF Fixer booked an engineer out within 24hrs and arrived on time, Andras was very professional, polite and most importantly cleaned my vans DPF thoroughly and got me back on the road with good aftercare advice. Will certainly use them again in the future.
Nat arrived from the company on time, was polite and explained what he was doing then just got on with it. Very efficient and well worth every penny. Nat should get a medal. Car is running fine now.
Fast response, efficient and clean work done, Kieran was open and informative at all stages of the process. The analysis of cars performance before and after treatment was a pleasing confidence booster for future motoring. Well done dpf fixer Ltd.
The vehicles we clean and the area we take in near Bluetown
Whatever it is — private car, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one on-site service holds, and the filter never quits it.
The same run that puts technicians on Down Court Road most weeks takes in Bluetown, Milstead, West End and the places beyond Doddington. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone still from farther out around Kent.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning across Bluetown
- Will a long drive shift it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the car has not dropped into limp mode. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly blocked.
- Across Bluetown, what does it run to?
- It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge covering the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we quote on the phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- No. The vehicle requires somewhere to stand for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Come along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- How soon can someone get to Bluetown?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the ME area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. And neither does lifting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light reappears?
- An engineer heads back out to Bluetown — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
