Blue Town, Kent: Mobile DPF Cleaning
With mobile DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. An engineer arrives at your place over in Blue Town, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the number is agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.
If the light is on already and the motor is short of power, this page is the right one. That is how most owners end up here.
DPF light on? What to do
It may not be the unit in the end. That is the opening thing. A check goes before all work, because that same dashboard light has plenty of candidate faults behind it.
How the vehicle is run in the meantime makes a difference too.
- Car still driving as normal on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs nothing and regularly clears the filter without help.
- Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the stage to stop booking long drives and call.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for a while. It is late news:
- less power, above all going uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
On its own, none of that is proof. The light with them suggests a loaded filter.
Clogged diesel particulate filters around Blue Town, and the reason
Blue Town is a residential suburb, and the driving that goes with one is the least kind type for a DPF. Nothing of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St Edward's Catholic Primary School, Sheppey Street barely moving at half eight, ten minutes to Tesco, the hop to Sheerness-On-Sea. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot builds up.
Unless you have a standing need to drive out to the M2, under 10 miles from Blue Town, or across to Southend-on-Sea under 10 miles away, weeks go by without a long unbroken drive. Geography is unhelpful.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
So the usual advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it stops being. In limp mode you are past that stage: cleaning is what will work, not more road work.
The car stays put for mobile DPF cleaning across Blue Town
On your front, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a few hours: the job is done with the filter still fixed on, which is the detail most drivers do not see coming.
The ECU is taken first, reporting soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are freed next, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that car, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is severely loaded, expect a second pass.
A regeneration is next, driving off what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Blue Town if you are present, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the running data checked afterwards.
Then a second check, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are kept.
The failures a DPF clean cannot answer
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not help:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system failure
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting whatsoever
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first check's whole job. When one of those proves the fault, you learn of it up front rather than once the money has left for good.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you have is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Blue Town
Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
The figure is agreed over the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. The motor shifts it, and so does the location — Blue Town, Sheerness, or somewhere otherwise out in the ME postcode area.
Cleaning that will not do it is not treatment you pay for, and the scan is what says so. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, did the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer travels back out to Blue Town — the job carries a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to around Blue Town
Cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated where it sits rather than taken anywhere.
Technicians are along Sheppey Street most weeks, so Blue Town is rarely a special trip, and the same run covers Sheerness, Mile Town and the spots out past Halfway Houses. Phone anyway from farther out around Kent. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the day you are offered comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.

Things Blue Town drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- It can, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not begun. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes or so to Tesco and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- The cost in Blue Town — what is it?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we quote on the phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- No. The vehicle needs somewhere to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. The regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive if you would prefer to be there.
- When can someone come to Blue Town?
- That comes down to the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is available across the ME area.
- Is the filter removed from the vehicle?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is done in place. Neither taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light comes back?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Blue Town.
