Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Bloomfield, Somerset

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the car. Your vehicle isn't taken away and the filter will not come off. An engineer comes at your place across Bloomfield, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and carries out a DPF regeneration.

Nobody leaves until the price is fixed by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.

The light is already on and the car is down on power — that is how we normally come across people, and precisely what this page covers.

What to do when the DPF light shows

First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. A clean is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — a number of faults show up as the same signal.

How the vehicle is driven in the meantime makes a difference too.

  • Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, motor driving fine, just one steady run, no outlay.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has by then shut.
  • Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the car, or smoke on the throttle, has gone past the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the vehicle was showing you

Symptoms have normally been growing for some time before the light even appears. Belated news, in other words:

  • pulling uphill, the power drops away
  • you see the revs never reach where they always went
  • the fuel economy is worse
  • a stop/start that has silently given up
  • diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears

By itself, none of that is proof. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.

Why diesel particulate filters clog round Bloomfield

Being a residential suburb, Bloomfield produces just the use a DPF manages worst. Not one bit of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St Mary's CofE Primary School, Bloomfield Park Road crawling at half eight, five minutes to The Co-operative Food, the hop to Oldfield Park. What should burn away stays behind.

Save when you have a regular reason to head out to the M32, under 15 miles from Bloomfield, or across to Bath under 10 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long unbroken stint. Geography is no help.

Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration

The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can never complete — which is the real problem, because a proper drive works by triggering that regeneration.

Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands right up to a limit. The filter wants cleaning rather than driving once the motor has gone into limp mode.

The car stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning round Bloomfield

The filter does not come off. That is the part most drivers do not expect: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a couple of hours.

First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it read before anything is cleaned.

Then the clean. A solution is injected through the access port on that vehicle and expands inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.

Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has freed. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Bloomfield, with you along, or it goes where the car sits and the running data is read after.

Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning cures. It will not touch:

  • a temperature or pressure sensor reporting a restriction that is not there
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • AdBlue system faults
  • a regeneration that simply never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil working through the filter from a failing turbo

The first diagnostic is there for precisely that. When it proves to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have settled up anything.

DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it hollowed out a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth noting.

Figures for DPF cleaning in Bloomfield

The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.

Quoting a flat rate would not be straight. We settle it on the phone, once the car and its probable needs are established. The vehicle changes it, and so does the postcode — Bloomfield, Timsbury, or somewhere farther out in the BA postcode area.

Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge still stands.

If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Bloomfield — the job comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

A vehicle having its DPF cleaned in Bloomfield

DPF Fixer booked an engineer out within 24hrs and arrived on time, Andras was very professional, polite and most importantly cleaned my vans DPF thoroughly and got me back on the road with good aftercare advice. Will certainly use them again in the future.

Mark Y.

Had my cars dpf cleaned 3 days ago and warning light has not come on. Its a little early to tell if its fixed, but so far so good.

Sean G.

Liam has done a great job. All things fully explained and good feedback. Your company has been excellent from the initial phone call. Will definitely recommend you to others.

Where we travel round Bloomfield, and what we clean

Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never quits it.

The same run that keeps our engineers on Bloomfield Park Road most weeks picks up Bloomfield, Timsbury, Wall Mead and the spots beyond Farmborough. Coverage runs UK-wide, so farther out across Somerset is nonetheless worth a ring, and what settles between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning around Bloomfield

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
If you spot it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. Fifteen minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not manage it; motorway speed, held for some time, will.
How long does the visit take?
It is typically around 2 hours. A badly clogged filter can require a second clean, which adds to that.
How much does it run to around Bloomfield?
The call-out charge pays for the visit, the check and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both shift the figure, so we quote on the phone.
Have I need to be there?
Nobody expects you to stand with it — the car only needs somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive if you would prefer to come along.
When can someone come to Bloomfield?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Call 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is available across the BA area.
The filter — does it leave the car?
It is cleaned where it sits, on the mobile service. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
And if the light comes back?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Bloomfield.
