Mobile DPF Cleaning around Bleet, Wiltshire
The motor stays in place — on-site DPF cleaning goes to it. The fitter turns up at your place across Bleet and starts. The diesel particulate filter is treated on the car, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the number is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
If the light is already on and the car is low on power, this page is for you. That is how most people get to us.
DPF light on? What comes next
It might not be the filter at all. That is the opening thing. That light can follow plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit starts with a diagnostic and not with a clean.
It counts what you get with the motor between now and the visit.
- A long even run may yet do it, provided the light is amber and the vehicle runs fine. Costs zero, so try that before calling.
- Vehicle already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
- A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and call.
Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been slipping for some time. It is belated news:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- fuel economy going worse
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
By itself, none of that is conclusive. The light beside them points at a blocked filter.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke round Bleet
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the kind you meet in a small village such as Bleet. Run through a typical week: The Mead Community Primary School and home, Yarnbrook Road at a halt before half nine, a five-minute run to Tesco Extra, a hop to Trowbridge. None of it there runs long enough or runs hot enough to finish a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the soot load banks up.
Except when you have a regular reason to drive out to the M4, under 15 miles from Bleet, or across to Bath under 10 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a sustained stint. Geography is against you.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. With pulling power limited and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter wants will not complete at all. That counts, because setting off one is precisely what a motorway run does.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, right until the day it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: cleaning is what will work, not more driving.
Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is treated across Bleet
On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a while: the job happens with the filter even now bolted on, which is the part most people do not expect.
A check comes first — live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are cleared before a thing is touched.
Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never move are lifted next, by a solution fed through the entry point on that motor, which spreads inside the filter. Where the filter is badly clogged, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Bleet; if not, in place where the motor sits, with the live data verified after.
A second diagnostic verifies the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures to hand.
What a DPF clean will not touch
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a blockage that is not real
- the EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system problem
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
The first scan is there for precisely that. You are warned before any work gets going, not after you have settled up, should it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into work.
DPF cleaning charges around Bleet
Cleaning opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we are told what you run, and roughly what the filter will take, the number gets agreed over phone. A single price for every job would not be truthful. A pair of things shift it: what you drive, and where you are — Bleet itself, across at Bullenhill, or further out across the BA postcode area.
Treatment that will not help is not cleaning you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. You still pay that charge: someone travelled, did the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Bleet if the light comes back inside the period.
Great work by the team. Managed to restore my dpf to as good as new. Very reliable and great service by Darius. Highly recommended.
Excellent service. Got me in quickly, Very knowledgeable and dealt with the issue while I was working. Highly recommend. thank you for getting me back on the road!
Excellent same-day service. Baz, the technician, was very helpful. My van was not drivable. He cleaned the DPF and also fixed the underlying issue that caused it to block in the first place. I'm very happy with the service and can highly recommend DPF Fixer.
What we clean, and how far we travel round Bleet
The filter is done on the vehicle on all of them: private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Nearly every week there is usually someone on Yarnbrook Road, so Bleet rarely means a journey of its own, and Bullenhill, Little Marsh and the spots past Ashton Common are on the way. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone even from further out across Wiltshire.

Things Bleet drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the car has not slipped into limp mode. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Tesco Extra and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is heavily clogged.
- The cost across Bleet — what is it?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that covers the check and advice on what to do next. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Do I have to be there?
- A spot for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Preferring to be there is welcome: the regeneration then is done out on the open road, monitored.
- How soon can someone travel to Bleet?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the BA area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- Not on the mobile service — it is treated where it stands. Getting a filter off or putting one back on count as anything a job we do whichever way.
- The light returns — then what?
- An engineer travels back out to Bleet — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
